I'm interested in getting standing room for FUNNY GIRL this week for a Lea Michelle performance! Has anyone bought standing room for this show, yet? If so, when did you arrive at the box office and how many people were in line? And about how many tickets are sold and where are the standing places located?

Thank you so much!

I did SRO this past weekend! They start selling tickets 2 hours before showtime if a show is expected to sell out (like <10 tickets left) for $42.50. You can buy up to 2 tickets per person. The first four tickets are pretty much guaranteed if the show sells out (best chances for Friday/Saturday performances), but then it depends. When I went on Friday, I was fifth in line at 5:45pm and unfortunately couldn't get a ticket because the other SRO tickets were apparently given to friends/family of the cast and are also limited by the number of wheelchair users attending the performance (the chairs are stored at the back of the theater where standing room is). I went back the next day at 11:45am for the 2pm matinee and was again 5th in line. The first few people had been there since about 9am. I waited it out again and luckily got a spot! I believe everyone else waiting in line for SRO also got one for this performance! I think they have between 4-10ish total spots. The attendant at the theater is pretty good about coming out and giving people in the line updates about the status every 30ish minutes. He even offered us a couple discounted tickets ($179 which were originally $499) that were left for the show if that's something you're interested in. If you know you for sure you want to do standing room, I would recommend going and waiting in line at least an hour before they start selling them (so 3 hours total before a show) to be in the first 3/4 people.

The SRO tickets are located at the back of the center orchestra. I thought the view was pretty good for the price, and I only missed the few sections of the show where people are standing on top of the staircases on either side of the stage since the mezz hangs pretty far. I've read some complaints about lighting/being able to see facial expressions, but I didn't really have that problem from my spot at the left of the stage. Hopefully that was helpful! Feel free to comment/reach out if you have any other questions!

Also 10/10 recommend watching the show with Lea! She is absolutely incredible and embodies the role perfectly. It was thrilling to hear her sing live and definitely worth the 6 hours I ended up standing outside the theater over the two days.

Has anyone tried recently? Especially on weekends?

Funny you mention this, I’m here right now trying for tonight! Currently it’s just me, so we’ll see what happens!

Update! Got into line sometime around 4:30 and was fifth (I officially arrived at the box office closer to 3:30 and was alone then, but ended up leaving to get some food and drink before officially waiting starting around 4:30, and thats when I was fifth). the people who were third and fourth in front of me ended up going into the box office to buy seats so I then ended up being third in line. At around 5:50 someone from the box office came out and told us we could buy standing room, and all 5 (?) of us in line bought single standing room spots. A success and I can’t wait to see the show in 45 minutes!

I'm tempted to try within the next few weeks now! I wouldn't be able to shell out +$100, but standing room I'd definitely look into. Thank you for sharing your experience!

For the price I paid, absolutely worth it. You can see everything you need to just fine from back there. You don't miss anything besides a couple of entrances/exits from the the top of the stair case and curtain call/bows with everyone else standing. A solid view for what you pay. Feet were hurting, but absolutely doable. If you want to see this show and don't want to drop hundreds, standing room is worth it to me.

So no one else has the experience I’m currently having…got into line at 4pm today (Saturday) and I am the first one. Yay, right? 6pm rolls around (show is at 8pm) and no one comes out so we’re all like hmm what’s happening. I went in to the box office and long story short, they’re saying they only start selling standing room right before the show starts. Yikes. To be determined on the final outcome but my point is, don’t come at 4pm expecting to have a ticket by 6pm!
