I've also posted this on the latebreaking news thread, but I'm giving it its own thread because it's already lost amidst the many unrelated posts on 'latebreaking.' This should be interesting.

By Carla Hay NEW YORK (Billboard) - Little Steven's Underground Garage Festival, which took place Aug. 14 at New York's Randall's Island, may be headed to the big screen. Director Chris Columbus, whose credits include "Home Alone," the first two "Harry Potter" films and the upcoming screen adaptation of "Rent," is shopping a concert documentary to film studios. Sources say he wants the film to be a high-definition, 3-D experience. Steven Van Zandt, aka Little Steven of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, organized the festival, which featured such acts as Iggy Pop & the Stooges, Big Star, Nancy Sinatra, the Strokes, the New York Dolls and the Pretty Things. 3-D? As in put little glasses over your face 3-D? What the heck is the point of that? And what does he mean by high-definition? That's a television term, I thought.
Bizarre.
Aw, I don't get the channel either.

That makes no sense when talking about movie production. Films are filmed on, well, film. The way they're broadcast on TV is something decided much later and has nothing to do with the film's director.
