i am in Denton, TX 30 minutes outside downtown Dallas. Kyan is by far the nicest of the five, but jai is still my favorite. and yes, i met them all! we have been told that the episode will air sometime in january. we had the reveal of our house yesterday and it looks AWESOME! thom is awesome. and they said they love texas...but who knows if that's true. but yeah...i have pics if y'all want to see! just PM me.

Elphielives, I LOVED Jai as Angel. I saw him when he originated the role and then when he came back last month. He was even better than I remembered. :)

Kyan actually has a new boyfriend that's not Bobby Gant. I've seen pictures of them together and they're smoking hot!

I don't know it seemed like he didn't even have rhythm during today 4 you...

Also, I would like to see him play something other than the over the top gay guy :)

Brittany Murphy can sing....remember the Mentos moment in CLUELESS? Jai would be awesome as Angel, and Anthony as Mark again would be the greatest thing ever.

As far as the Rent movie, I've debated it way too much so I won't say anything except that I feel like I should hate Brittany Murphy as Maureen, but I don't.

I wasn't thinking mini-series or TV movie so much as soon-to-be-cancelled-drama.

It's like, they gave away pretty much the entire plot in the commercial! *yawn*

Either way, it still means he can do the movie!

I just finished doing an interview with Andy Meeks, who's playing Mark on the RENT tour, and he said the cast has been suggesting Mya as Mimi. It's probably no better of a guess than what we're coming up with, I just thought it was interesting. (I don't think her pipes are raw enough to pull off the part, personally.)

Hey, maybe Mya will surprise with her vocals like Queen Latifah (formerly known as a rap artist) did in Chicago. But if she were given a screen test, I'd like Columbus and/or the casting director have her perform opposite the likely Roger before casting her. Chemistry is important. So my revised pitch list...

Mya Harrison... Mimi
Sean Patrick Thomas... Benny
Brittany Murphy... Maureen
Jai Rodriguez... Angel (he may disappoint some on stage, but with multiple film takes, perfection can be achieved)
Virtual unknowns... Joanne, Roger, Mark and Collins.

I dunno. Benny, Mimi, Maureen and Angel are such larger than life figures that casting celebrities (none of whom are quite A-list, btw) in the roles makes sense to me.

I think the character of Mark is an easier role to cast than Roger. Esp. nowadays, at least with movies, where the nerdy leading man is "in".

So far, I don't think anyone's proposed a Roger that even one other person has agreed with.

I can't think who's already a big name in Hollywood to play Roger. Maybe that's for the best? More unknowns in lead roles will probably make it difficult for Columbus to get away with casting celebrities in supporting roles (what sense would it make to have Renee Zellweger as Maureen while someone who has never been in a movie before gets the most screen time?).

Brittany Murphey certainly looks the part of Maureen, and I would love Queen Latifah as Joanne. lol, that's an interesting couple.

With a little makeup, couldn't Adam Pascal be made to look a little bit younger? I'd kill to have him as Roger... lol. How about Cary Shields as Roger? I've heard he was good...

I think Jai is a shoe-in for Angel, to be honest. He's a star, but not too big to overshadow the movie (which is what this movie requires). Because of this, it may be wiser to cast Mark, Roger and Mimi as Hollywood unknowns (maybe not Broadway unknowns... lol).

I don't think Kyan and Bobby Gant were ever a couple. Just went out a couple of times, like they said.
Kyan actually seems to be in a pretty serious relationship with his (hot) gay rights activist BF. I saw them together ('together' together) in March and thought they looked really good together.

BTW, his BF was also in Texas last weekend (snapped together), must have been visiting him. Kyan's a real sweetheart. I'm glad he's happy.

Taye was in Malibu's Most Wanted. It wasn't a hit, but dang was he funny in it!

I really wish I liked the Brittany Murphy as Maureen idea, but since I do not love Brittany Murphy and Maureen is my favorite character ever, it just doesn't work for me. I guess it's that jealousy of me wanting to play Maureen lol.

I'm not complaining if Jai plays Angel! :)
