Faith Prince GREY GARDENS (speculation)

Is Christine's vacation coming up soon? Only because Faith Prince is in London at the moment (until the middle of July) performing in Kismet, that could be why she turned it down.

Posted: 6/18/07 at 12:25pmAs much as I like Faith Prince, I just don't see her as Little Edie. Prince doesn't have the underlying neuroses.

Posted: 6/18/07 at 12:29pmLet's hope she isn't away for long. When she was last on vacation at Easter the show really struggled to sell tickets.

Posted: 6/18/07 at 12:31pmFaith might have been approached prior to Eversole's Easter vacation. Not sure about the timeline.

I think she'd be brilliant in the role.
Goth, it's called ACTING.

Morosco,
I'm shocked that you would post something that is nothing more that a rumor.
I had higher standards for you.

Posted: 6/18/07 at 5:07pmHow long is her vacation? I wouldn't think she would fill in for just a vacation.

Posted: 6/18/07 at 11:07pmSince I may plan a last minute trip to NYC to see Grey Gardens in July, does anyone have any idea when Christine Ebersole might be going on vacation?
#10re: Faith Prince GREY GARDENS (speculation)
Posted: 6/18/07 at 11:14pmShe was supposed to be off from July 7-14, that's no longer certain however. She will probably continue without a break through the summer.

Posted: 6/18/07 at 11:24pmMaureen Moore is going on when Christine is on vacation. She ran into us on the street and mentioned we should come out and see her in July (if that's what you're referring to).
#12re: Faith Prince GREY GARDENS (speculation)
Posted: 6/18/07 at 11:29pmThe original July vacation dates were always 7-14. If Maureen confirmed she's doing dates in July then I assume Christine IS taking her vacation as planned in those dates. And if for some reason Faith Prince had been approached (though I don't see what's wrong with Maureen, I saw her at Easter and she was fine), she would definitely had to have turned it down because she's in ENO's Kismet from June 25 to July 14.

^ She's WAYYY too young. Little Edie is in her 50's.

Posted: 6/18/07 at 11:56pmJennifer Laura Thompson was originally asked to audition for Little Edie.

Posted: 6/19/07 at 12:05amReally? Where did you get that? Isn't JLT in her late 30s, I would've thought they'd be looking for someone younger. I don't know if I prefer Erin Davie or Sara Gettelfinger - Erin looks more like Christine but I think Sara has a better voice.

Posted: 6/19/07 at 12:07amChristine gave up her July vacation for the good of the show. Maureen Moore was never confirmed to take time in July anyway as far as I know.

Posted: 6/19/07 at 12:11amThompson played Little Edie in the last set of New York readings prior to the Off-Broadway engagement at Playwrights Horizons (though I too see her nailing the Ebersole role in ten years or so.).

Posted: 6/19/07 at 12:12amThat's what I thought. But then BillFinn apparently confirmed that Maureen was performing in July... along with the revelation that they almost cast a 38 yr old JLT as a 24 yr old Little Edie...

Um... no. I'm afraid I'm not mistaken. I did run into Maureen Moore this weekend and she told me and my friends to come out and see her in July, when Christine went on vacation.
J-La being asked to audition for Little Edie could possibly be false. I remember being on the Broadway World boards a few months ago and there was a thread, someone was asking "WHERE IS J-LA?" A poster mentioned that Jennifer had been asked to audition for Mary Poppins, Grey Gardens, and step in for Christine Colgate (after Sherie Rene Scott). It seemed reasonably accurate. She could play all of those roles in my book.

I ran face-to-face with Maureen Moore this weekend. I was standing on a corner with BillFinn, having just seen Grey Gardens, and expressing my thoughts to him on how Act One and Act Two didn't seem to gel when a lady walks up to me and says:
"I'm sorry. You're wrong. You don't get it. I completely disagree with you. I'm Christine's understudy."
She then went on to say she'd be going on for her in July, and I should come back and see it.
The moral of the story? Keep your opinions to yourself, and go see Maureen Moore in July. =)

I have already seen Maureen in April, and while she is an excellent performer (really deserves a big starring role of her own) I don't see your point Pegasus. "Go see Maureen Moore in July" is all very well, but this is and always has been Christine's show, and past experience (as recently as Easter) goes to prove that the show doesn't do very well when Christine isn't in it.
BTW I wouldn't impressed if Act I just flowed into Act II, there is supposed to be a 30 year gap between them...
