Fan mail through email?

Ok, I know there are a ton of posts, but I've been reading and seeing that alot of people got responses from actors, through an email? Obviousley the email was given to them in the letter, but is it better to say "here is my email adress" or just have them respond through a regular adress? Does that make sense?

I *believe* that most people who are saying that they correspond to actors through email do it via email addresses available on official websites.

I recognize the addiction to being alive.
