Hey guys! So, for my Directing II final, I am directing a 45 minute to hour long One-Act. I found "Black Comedy" which I'm a big fan of but my professor doesn't want me to attach myself to one yet without looking at more. Does anyone know of great one acts that fit the time I'm looking for? I was looking at comedies but am open to anything. Thanks for any help!

Check out "Why Do We Laugh?" by Stephen Gregg. I directed it this year and it is a wonderful, wonderful show.

I love Black Comedy....but it's tough, real tough.

Most of the shows I work on for festivals need to be UNDER 40 minutes but a few that come to mind that are comedies:

Audience (LOOOOVE this)
Cut
Removing the Glove
Fools
The Real Inspector Hound
Epic Proportions

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

If you want comedy, check out David Ives. Anything he writes is golden to me, namely Time Flies and Speed the Play. The Bald Soprano is a good one too!

I'm actually going to suggest another work by Stephen Gregg - S.P.A.R. I directed it my senior year of high school and it was one of the best experiences possible. The author is a character in the show and it's just weird and hilarious.
