I just saw this on the news this morning. So sad. He was always my favorite part of "The Wiz."

He was one of my favorite comedians when I was a child.
always delightful. i don't know anything about his life. is it an interesting story?
I saw him in a Long Beach CLO production of Hello, Dolly! about 10 years ago. Nell Carter was Dolly and Nipsy Russell was Horace. It wasn't the best production I've seen, but it was plenty fun. Sad that both of them are gone now.

RIP Mr. Russell.
He inspired me to start doing musical theatre...with "Slide Some Oil"
One more panelist to add to Heaven's Match Game set.
He always amused with a poem or a song,
So it is with sadness that we all say, "So long."
RIP
Nice, Sueleen!
