No offense to BSM, but I expected that number to be boring--and he was just lovely. I really have respect for him.
"I didn't feel for her as Rose or think that she truly wanted to have her moment."
I actualy agree with that. I mean, it was still my favorite performance of the night, but there was not as much feeling as there is when she performs it in the actual show.
My second favorite performance was "Man of La Mancha" and then "Nine."
Yes, Nine I really enjoyed as well. But I did NOT enjoy La BOheme. I would not be able to sit through that for two and a half hours. The costumes are very good, I admit (I'm SO happy Hairspray won for that, by the way), but I didnt like the singing. It sounded like 10 singers singing different opera songs. They all sing beautifully, but the performance was not put together well, IMHO.
I didnt like La Boheme's perfomance either; or Movin' Out's for that matter.
I didn't like the La Boheme performance either. I didn't see the show yet, but I was planning on buying tickets for this week. After seeing the Tonys, I don't think I'll go!

La Boheme's was a jumbled mess. I couldn't understand Antonio at all!
Well, I might still go see La Boheme because I heard it's really good. I think the fact that they had both casts there (remember, they have rotating casts) made it look messy.

I liked La Boheme's performance. I think it was really nicely done. It didn't really sound jumbled to me because I know the music so I knew what it was supposed to sound like. I must say they pulled it off well, with all the casts. Just my two cents. And also, Bernadette was absolutely brilliant. Bravo to her.

I loved the "Hairspray" number, and I thought Peters was terrific in "Rose's Turn". Twyla Tharp walking onstage like a lumberjack was a comedic highpoint! All in all, I thought it quite a good show.

well, unfortuantely i didnt get to see all of it cuz I had to drive back up to LA, but I did see the first half, and ofcourse, recorded it. So that meant I didnt see Bernie. But I heard did extremely well.
Question bout Hairspray though. I've never seen it since I live in LA, but question is, Do they sound all out of breath when they perform every night or was that just the tony awards where they weren't used to the mics, and so forth, because it was very distracting how much everyone's voice was bobbling around.

Probably not, I mean they haven't hjad a day off in about two weeks and they are all pulling major double duty with rehearsals for the Tonys and everything else.
Didn't really notice it. LOVED the song tho. I saw it earlier this year and its still a remarkable piece of work. BSM has a wonderful voice. (why i bought the CD) Sorry I liked Antonio, LOVED Pawlks(sp?) speech. I had me some fun last night watching the show, drinking Cyclones and eating popcorn! So looking forward to the new season too!
ayor Bloomberg's remark at the beginning of the show. He rather be Antonio.
SPJ dress was God awful. Yes, she may be showing off her after baby figure, but it was not appropriate.
Twyla Tharp walked and acted like a truckdiver. She is a choreographer. ugh.
Christopher Reeve - makes me sad just to look at him. He has come such a long way. His quote how Katherine Hepburn made him feel like Superman.
Marissa may have won. But that is probably the only part she will fit in. I was disappointed Bernadette did not win. She is a class act.
It seemed to be just Hairspray and Take Me Out night. LaBoheme was wonderful as was Movin Out, Enchanted April and Man of LaMancha. Where were the kudos for them?
Antonio is gorgeous. I see the attraction. That is why his wife is so clingy. God, how insecure can she be? SHe even held his arm when they were sitting down.
Vanessa Redgrave looked old beyond her years. She looked like she just stepped out of bed.
I am glad at least Brian Dennehy won. He is a wonderful actor. I am seeing Long Day's Journey Into Night in August.
Hugh Jackman is also gorgeous but that hair..........ugh.
Brian Stokes Mitchell has the best voice on Broadway.
My favorite outfit of the night was Juliana Margulies purple dress....well except for the back of the thing which was nothing, I really loved it!
I liked how Bebe and Anne wakled out in Fosse style. I would have liked to see them add a little more to that.
