Posted: 12/4/10 at 6:17pmWe ate at Junior's once. The food was actually pretty decent and our wait wasn't very long at all (I think we caught it JUST before most shows had let out, so before the crowds hit). Just be aware, if you go, that some of their servings were HUGE.

Posted: 12/5/10 at 9:40pmIt's really hard to go wrong on that stretch of 9th Ave in Hell's Kitchen. If you can't find something you want to eat there then I don't think you could find something to eat anywhere.

Great post! I love reading restaurant recs.
I second the rec for Don Giovanni, I went there for the first time earlier this year and the very next time I went to the theatre I sought it out again. I almost always go to the theatre by myself so I seek out restaurants that don't feel awkward to be in alone. Don Giovanni has a nice, comfortable atomosphere and I was really happy with the food (good prices too.)

Junior's is usually my "go too" place especially if I have my mom with me. She has dietary restrictions and she knows she can eat safely at Junior's without getting sick. It's easier to go to someplace familiar then a place that may not have anything for her. And, honestly, there's nothing better than one of their grilled cheese sandwiches and a bowl of hot chocolate on a cold winter's day.
Another place I like is the Irish Rogue. Yes, it's a bar but I found their food to be both good and reasonably priced. It's on 44th Street between 8th & 9th.
