I would say do it all over the cars of the Tony voters instead.

I agree that Ramirez's performance on Find Your Grail is absolutely spectacular and I really do hope she gets the Tony.
The song itself though - I can't get over how much it reminds me of "Take me home, country road." It's like they just took the melody and chord structure of the song and did a more "soulful" arrangement of it with new lyrics. Of course, this sort of pastiche works well for Python material, but it is the antithesis of original. Now, what Sara does with it vocally - the way she takes all those different pop singing styles and artfully, and seemingly effortlessly, crochets them all together - THAT is brilliant.
Sara+Tony=absolutely
Score+Tony=travesty

I haven't seen Spamalot but I've been listening to the clips on their website and I think that about 75% of that score is lifted from other music. This is not to say that it was intentional because anyone who's ever tried to compose music knows how easy it is to re-write something they've heard without even knowing it until somebody points it out.

I agree! First track I always go to on Spamalot is #12!

This song AND Diva's Lament...she's awesome in that too!

She is great. IT's the material that is lacking and, to my complete surprise, it's her ability to rise above it that makes her so spectacular.

I admit it, she's pretty great on the Cast Recording.

OK dont shoot me... but I saw spamalot, as well as a number of the other shows and I do not feel Ms. Ramirez deserves the tony. I think she is extremely talented and has a phenomonal voice... but i just didnt think she was onstage enough or an important enough part to win. I think Kelli Ohara should win this award out of all the possibilities, as she gave a performance that left me completely satisfyed. she is on stage a great deal, and sings some rather difficult (and not POP sounding) music. Just my opinion...

I think Kelli O'Hara is, despite my own love for her, a longshot for a nomination this year.

it may be crowded... but they could certainly make room for someone who DESERVES it. Ive only missed like 4 of the big musicals this season (All shook up, chitty, spelling bee, charity)... so from what ive seen Id personally nominate Maureen McGovern, Kelli Ohara, Joanaa Gleason, and Sarah... with the win going to kelli. Shes one of the few NOT in a musical comedy (well besides maureen).. so she kinda stands out in that aspect. Shes also been in two musicals this season lol (not that that has anything to do with anything but id like to think it gives her an edge). we shall see.

Well, it's certainly a possibility that she'll get a nomination and I hope she does...but I think she will be ignored. She was giving a wonderful performance in Sweet Smell of Success and was ignored.

Just because Kelli isn't in a musical comedy doesn't mean she deserves the award. Don't get me wrong, I love her. But the TONY belongs to Sara.

I havent seen Piazza yet, Im seeing it in a few weeks, but I did see Spamalot. I thought Sara Ramirez was very good, but she didn't blow me away. I thought she was hysterical and I loved how she was able to do all different styles with her voice, but her performance didn't scream Tony to me. I wouldn't be surprised if she won, she deserves to win and I would certainly be happy if she did, but I have to see the competition before I can make a judgement.

Out of all the female suporting roles this year (save for BEE because I haven't seen it,) none of the performers have me totally cheering for them to win the Tony.
Kelli is okay. Good voice.
Sara is funny - amazing voice.
Jan Maxwell is hysterical.
Maureen McGovern sings well....
Sarah Berry is good...
They're all just GOOD. But none of the performances had me cheering and saying "Wow, they HAVE to win the Tony!" Out of all the just okay performances though, I'd have to say that although Maxwell is my favorite, Ramirez just has more of an opportunity to shine. I would vote for Ramirez, but not by an overwhelming amount.

From what I have heard, Jan Maxwell has a VERY good chance.

Maxwell has a HUGE chance. In fact, I'd put it between the two of them, unless they also nominate O'Hara and Keenan-Bolger. If the field is balanced with better-written and dramatic roles, it could become much more open...

O'Hara gives one of the most heartfelt and most GENUINE performances on a Broadway stage right now.

It's no secret that I hated Spamalot, but Ramirez was by far the weakest performer. Ugh.

Kelli is SO extradoinary in Piazza. Every time I've seen it, I've noticed new layers she delves into with the character.
