Finding Neverland Musical...

Just saw the cast list for the reading on playbill.com

"For the reading, Tony winner Rob Ashford directs a cast that includes Kate Baldwin, Christian Borle (as Barrie), Brian D'Addario, Michael D'Addario, Blythe Danner, Erin Davie, Dalton Harrod, Tom Hewitt, Katie Holmes, Marc Kudisch, Daniel Marconi, Anne L. Nathan, Denis O'Hare, Brynn O'Malley, Clarke Thorell, Jon Patrick Walker and Wayne Wilcox."


Pretty crazy, no?

I hope not.

Are there even that many significant roles in the film?

I'm excited to hear the material and see how this shapes up.

Its musical theatre heaven.

Yesss Christian Borle. I'm so glad to see him getting bigger roles. And the rest of the cast...I can't wait.

No way can Katie Holmes be playing Winslet's role.

I can barely stand waiting for anothe Frankel and Korie score. I'm so excited for Happiness and this one, of course. They're the best new songwriters working in the theatre today.

Although I'd MUCH prefer Erin Davie as Sylvia, I think she's going to be Mary, Barrie's wife...which really is a disappointment. The thought of Katie Holmes attempting to play Sylvia, a role which Kate Winslet portrayed so beautifully, sort of makes me want to vomit a wee bit...

Hmmm.. I think I'm just too picky about this for it to become a musical. haha

I simply can't imagine anyone but Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet doing those respective roles. And even for Peter.. Freddie Highmore just WAS Peter for me.

So yeah, even though I CAN see how this would actually make a lovely musical, I'm not so much okay with it.. unless they want to get Johnny, Kate, and Freddie to do it :P (hey, Johnny and Kate CAN both sing! Maybe not quite up to Broadway par, but... it could be handled!)


But no, if they ARE going to do it... there are just MUCH better people I can think of for the cast. Granted Erin Davie would make a beautiful Sylvia, for sure. But Christian Borle? complete meh. I'm thinking more... Brian d'Arcy James :) Though of course now he's in Shrek, but yeah. More along those lines.

^It has nothing to do with the fact that he was in Next to Normal. I just think he seems much more the right type for the role

I guess Marc Kudish is playing Charles Frohman (the Dustin Hoffman role). WHAT role would O'Hare be reading for, then?? Unless they are adding scenes to the show and having the boys' father, Arthur, be alive (AS HE WAS IN REAL LIFE!) before Peter Pan was written.
