Mary Zimmerman's

Nov 8, 2011 — 11:19:05 AM

I for one would be thrilled if this came to NYC. It's been nearly 15 years since the last revival, ample time in my opinion, especially if this production offers a new perspective (I realize it may be similar to Caird's revision but that production, to my knowledge, has not been presented in NYC).

ALNM Cast CD

I would be happy if they just recorded the Peters/Stritch stuff and released it as an online only purchase thru itunes or any other music site. No need for a physical cd.

2009-10 Drama Desk Award Nominations Announced!

May 3, 2010 — 11:20:53 AM

Yeah, the costumes and orchestrations for the Ragtime revival are practically the same as the originals, with some very minor alterations. I just don't see how Brohn and Loquasto qualified for nominations this time around, especially considering the fact they were nominated for the original in 1998 (and Brohn actually won!) but I love their work so it doesn't really bother me that they're work is being recognised once more:)

Best Revival - Has this ever happened before?

Apr 12, 2010 — 4:45:39 PM

It would be the first musical to do so, which woul be very cool, but "Death of a Salesman" won Best Play in '49 and for its two revivals, one in the early 80s and then again 1999. That's the only other work thats won for each of its Broadway productions.

B'WAY TRANSFER WATCH: London's 'Sweet Charity'

Feb 8, 2010 — 1:19:07 PM

She's no Gwen Verdon (and honestly who is?) but Tamzin definately could dance. I thought she was much better than Applegate and I don't see why she's getting abuse. She probably won't make the transfer but I thought she was a good Charity and did the role justice. There wasn't a lack of exicitement or "showbiz razamataz" to this production either. The orchestra sounded really full and jazzy, it sounded close to the original orchestrations. Sure it helped that the space wasn't a 1000 seat thea...

B'WAY TRANSFER WATCH: London's 'Sweet Charity'

Feb 7, 2010 — 9:48:32 PM

It really is awesome. The concept works so well and there are a bunch of other great elements to this production that set it so far above the 05 revival. I had a wonderful time at the Chocolate Factory and I'm glad to see it's making the transfer=]

re: Over Here! Revivial with Dick Van Dyke?

Nov 23, 2009 — 7:08:31 PM

Yes it isn't a great show but it is a hell of alot of fun=] I saw a high school production of it last year and was extremely skeptical of it on the way in but fell in love with the score and the nostalgia it invoked. I was thouroughly impressed. It was a wonderful production. Glad to hear it may come back to Broadway.
