Finian's Rainbow will get a cast recording!
"The cast and musicians of Broadway's Finian's Rainbow were told Nov. 24 that a studio date has been set to preserve their work on a new cast album of the classic Yip Harburg-Burton Lane score.
Producers David Richenthal, Jack Viertel and Alan D. Marks announced that the cast and orchestra of the critically-acclaimed revival will head into a Manhattan recording studio on Dec. 7. The new Broadway cast album will be produced by Tommy Krasker for PS Classics. The label anticipates an early February street date."
I believe that Ed Mottershead reported this information several days ago. I am very happy about this upcoming recording, particularly because the OBCR of 1947 is not complete. I am looking forward to seeing FINIAN'S RAINBOW on December 9th.
I, too, say hooray. The full orchestra and beautiful singing are the highlights of this show and deserve to be recorded. Congratulations to all!!
Excellent! Thanks for posting.
Terrific news, indeed!
So happy to hear this. I loved the show when I saw it back in October and can't wait to the add the recording to my collection.

I agree with everybody--I can't wait for this. Oh, and this is kind of off-topic, but I love comparing the number of views to posts in this thread!
I am so excited!
I don't think I'll be able to see the show, so I'm excited that there will be a cast recording. Yay!
Oh this is just excellent. I've been surviving off of clips from that site and a DVDR'd The View performance of Old Devil Moon since I got home from the show. While I loved the OBC. there's just something about the vocals in this production(especially Baldwin and Jackson) that make it so unique.
Excellent news! I went back to the show last night and they're in really excellent shape.
Another happy camper here!
