Didn't she also see Avenue Q awhile back? That's far more insulting to the president (and rightfully so)

They (or at least she) go to the theatre a fair amount here in DC. I was an extra in an opera (Aida!) that she attented, and there was a brou-ha-ha about the handicapped entrance being closed for a while for her to slip in.

Bush's sister-in-law does a lot of community theatre in the area!! (She's actually pretty good!) They often go to her shows. Some friends were doing a show that she attended, and they added a special performance to fit her schedule (although that is not always the case.) They papered the house by just invited friends word-of-mouth. She sat 2 rows behind us. But it was just a slapstick comedy with no political content. The show was really bad...I felt so sorry for the secret service guys having to sit throught the thing. The pres. was supossed to be there, but something came up.

Well she loved Avenue Q...

She is actually looking to take over the role after W gets out of office next year.

Re: Laura Bush and Wicked

She saw that I believe with the originals and posed for pictures after, though half of the leads didn't show up for work that day. (Wonder why.)

Sorry to sort-of threadjack, but the postings about Laura Bush at Avenue Q reminded me about something.

When I first saw Avenue Q right after it opened, Nicole Kidman was sitting a few rows behind me. Now, forgive my pop-culture knowledge, but I believe this was about the time that Tom Cruise started going a little..."un-normal," and converted to scientology.

****Really Minor Spoiler***

In the end of the show when the Bad Idea Bears come back on and say they have been "reformed" by converting to Scientology, at the exact same time, the entire audience turns around to look at Nicole to see her reaction. Needless to say, it must have been an awkward moment for her, but after raising her hand from her face she laughed extremely hard. It was a nice moment.

End of threadjack and spoiler.

...I think at last year's Tony Awards, Christine Ebersole made a comment to Rod from Avenue Q that was something like... "A Republican puppet... Why is that familiar?"

...haha.
