RTC's production is more or less a transfer of that production. Same director and star.

I thought it was a fairly ho-hum production of a play that really didn't need to be revived. I went because I've never seen a live production of a Noel Coward play (I missed BLITHE SPIRIT which a friend of mine really liked), and despite it's untimely demise I'd absolutely loved David Cromer's BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS.
Unfortunately this turned about be be at the level of THE ROYAL FAMILY, with the set turning out to be the most interesting aspect of the production just like in AFTER MISS JULIE. While Ashmankas was way over the top as almost everyone mentions, I was glad since he at least kept me awake. Pretty much everyone else seemed to be sleep walking through this snooze fest.
I thought it was an excellent production, but I loved Royal Family. Victor Garber is giving one of the best performances on Broadway right now. Ashmankas on the other hand is giving the opposite...

Ashmanskas is doing EVERYTHING his character should be doing.. if anything, he's calming it down a little more as compared to other productions of this play
