Hi!
Been a fan of theatre for a long time--finally making my first trip to NYC to see a Broadway show in early October :)
I am planning on seeing:
If/Then
Beautiful
Matilda
Gentleman's Guide
Any advice on what tickets to buy in advance vs. which to get discounts on day of? Also, I was looking at ticket availability for Beautiful and noticed there's a Sunday evening performance on October 12. What's up with that? Any (greater) chance Jessie Mueller would be out that day since it's not how the schedule normally works?
Thank you in advance!

I think a lot of shows are doing two shows on that Sunday because it's a holiday weekend. I think your chances of seeing Jessie is as good as any other night. That said, when I went to purchase tickets earlier this year, I was told at the box office that I selected a day that Jessie was planning to be on vacation..and to pick another date if I wanted to see her.
As of now, I believe that Matilda and If/Then are often at TKTS but I don't think the others are there as often. I know Beautiful is rarely there.

Posted: 8/8/14 at 8:31amI would recommend buying Beautiful tickets in advance. I was going to rush for the show but it was about a month after the Tonys and I knew I wanted to see it so I caved and bought full price tickets for the from mezz and they were great seats! I would totally do it again, the show is phenomenal. If you want to try to get cheap tickets, you could try the lottery for Matilda and/or If/Then. It is not guaranteed that you will get tickets, but the tickets are about $25 or $30 each. If you don't win, you could always go to the TKTS to get tickets.

Posted: 8/9/14 at 5:30pmJessie has two scheduled weeks off in the next few months, August 26th-31st and October 28th - November 2nd, so I doubt she'd be planning to be off on a random Sunday night in the middle of Oct.
