For the first time ever I will be in NYC for Thanksgiving weekend.

Where should I go to watch the Broadway performances? What time in the morning should I arrive to get a good seat? Will I also be able to see the parade, or is it just a place the TV cuts to to show the performances?

Thanks!!

PS: If anyone has any other tips on watching the parade with a family of four, let me know!

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

On TV is best.
You need a ticket to sit in the bleachers to see the shows live.

Even the bleachers that are able to see the performances are VIP. I went a couple years ago because I had a great connection and sat in the bleacher on the corner of 34th and Broadway and it was fantastic, but it was so hard to get! And we had to be there super early.

I'd say just watch on TV if you can't get a ticket.

i sat in the bleachers in '03 (froze my ass off!) i say, view the parade from a nice balcony somewhere and go inside for the musical numbers and watch them on tv. in '03 kristen and idina did a number from WICKED and the kid in BOY FROM OZ tapped -- but you couldn't see much, really.

It's not even worth the hassel. They don't even sing live.

I don't wanna give away my secret, but there's a great bank window I sit in to watch the parade in the upper 50's.

It's cool to watch the parade, but I wouldn't bother trying to be around Macy's area. It's so not worth watching the B'way performances since they lip sync....very poorly I might add. And it's so bloody crowded and just not worth the irritation in my opinion. I'd go to uws along CPW and get a great view....and you don't have to wait for the parade to get all the way downtown.

That lipsync crap is shameful and only kids are fooled. It looks ridiculous.

Not to mention how cold it is and how crowded it is

Another vote for watching it on TV in your jammies. But DO go up to the upper west side on Wednesday night to see the balloons!

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." Conan O'Brien
