Posted: 2/18/15 at 10:38pmI'm really glad you enjoyed the show, but my question to you is what is exactly the problem with the second act? Larry actually seems like a really nice guy and I guess it turns out after all that he IS into stage-dooring, especially since I guess he does come out after matinees in-between shows. A class act to the fans!

No. He seemed very honest & genuine about being willing to sign any other time. It was very obvious he was sick during the performance, and there was quite a crowd outside. He would've been out there in the cold a while.
It's hard to comment on the second out without spoiling the biggest parts of the play....

Posted: 2/21/15 at 10:46pmHey all. For those of you interested in meeting Larry, my friend has met him twice. Both times were before the show where not many people wait. I've been told that Larry's routine consists of a 7:00 PM arrival for a show at 8.

Saw the show last night. As much as I love Larry David I was extremely disappointed in the show. If I wanted to watch Curb I could have saved $800 (yes, I bought premium tickets when it went onsale 6 months ago) and stayed home to watch it On Demand. It's the same shtick but on a Broadway stage. Not really sure what to expect going into it, but why would he use the Curb lines in a Broadway show and not just make it an extension of Curb?? He says Pretty Pretty Pretty etc, which made everyone laugh but cmon - come up with some new material. Show was funny and somewhat entertaining but overall not worth the price of admission, period.

No show is worth what you paid. Sorry but that is my opinion.
I knew it would be an extended Curb episode so not surprised at yours and other comments.
Sometimes do not believe the hype as that is all that it is.

Saw the matinee this past Saturday. Yes, this is an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, but that is exactly what we expected. Same old Larry David schtick, situations, set-ups, catch phrases, awkward moments, etc., and I thought it was great. Like any episode of Curb (for me at least) there comes a point where the formula becomes telegraphed and tired, and Fish is no exception. But just when you think the rhythm is lost, there is a saving funny moment. Was this a fantastic play? no, but it was entertaining, and very funny if you're a Larry David fan. The supporting cast is good, although we didn't care for Ben Shenkman as Larry's brother. He seemed a bit miscast, and the character was poorly written. Basically, this (as with Curb) is strictly a vehicle for David's schtick. Love him or hate him - that should be your indication of enjoyment.
Larry was quite kind at the stage door, and really took his time signing/talking. Seems like a genuine guy. Rest of the cast blew past, assuming no one was interested in them. We were lucky enough to run into the full cast (sans Larry, and Rita) at a restaurant later that night, and chatted a bit, and gave our praises for a job well done. They were all very nice.
Bottom line, if you like Curb, you will like this.

I finally had the opportunity to see Fish in the Dark this afternoon and I loved it!
Yes, I'm admittedly a huge fan of Larry David and all of his television work, and yes, I agree with those who have said that this was basically a two-hour episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. If you love David and his humor, though, you will certainly love the play! I thought it was thoroughly hysterical and paced extremely well. The show is down to a two-hour run time, so it appears they've made some significant trimming since the first preview. The audience absolutely loved the performance, too, with tons of laughter and applause throughout.
I'm thrilled that I had the chance to see this early in the run, and I'm looking forward to going back at least one more time.

Check the review thread: They're mostly mixed-to-positive, with no out and out pans. I think you only posted to make a bad Larry David pun and praise your (misguided) foresight.

I saw the show tonight. I thought the first act was slightly weak but still had some funny moments. Act Two was hilarious though and that was true genuine Larry David. The cast overall were great and Larry of course was fall out of your seat funny with his facial expressions and physicality. Something weird though: Rita Wilson wasn't in the show tonight and wasn't in the playbill or on the cast board or anything and an actress (I forgot her name) is listed as being on full-time. I asked box office and they said "she is on a leave of absence." Weird stuff
The stage door was great with everyone signing if you wished them to but didn't formally go down the line except Larry. Rosie Perez was signing for people but then after about 15 seconds the door busted open and who was it but Larry himself. He signed but didn't take pictures but was nice about it and spent almost 10 minutes signing and taking and I was teasing him. I am a big fan of his and was happy about the experience. Overall, if you could score a ticket go but with lowered expectations and ready to laugh at Larry!
