re: Flea Market Celebrity Table Information

I'm so gonna wait in line to meet Raul even though I've met him a couple of times. re: Flea Market Celebrity Table Information I've been wanting to have him sign my Taboo shirt.

If I do it, I'm going to have to get creative. I think I still need him to sign my RHS CD insert. I've actually always wanted him to sign my Normal Heart script, but I take it that's not such a happy issue.

Yeah, I wanted that signed too. But, I'm terrified of asking him to sign that.

Yes they do. They mostly sell things that are also available on their website. The new catalog is due soon, too.

Why would you be afraid to have Rauk sign the script? Just wondering.

I'm so looking forward to this! I was just in NYC in July, but am going back just for this! (well, of course I'll catch some shows, too!)

re: Flea Market Celebrity Table Information

Chrysanthemum, I thought I was the only person who figured into the silliness of being afraid. Maybe I'll toss it in my bag and see what kind of mood he's in. Of all events at which to present it, maybe this is the one - it's not particularly wise to show him that after Chitty, I guess. It might take the happiness factor down... a lot of notches.

Feathah, I only speak for myself, obviously, but I'm afraid on two levels, I guess - the very superficial one of him thinking that it's weird, because you know, the guy didn't *write* the play. It would be more normal for me to ask him to sign the Playbill from the show, or something (which he did for me the night I saw it). But I guess the reason that both of us are afraid (Chrys, correct me if I'm wrong) is just the issue that's brought up by that play - I remember hearing him tell a friend of mine that it was THE most important thing he's ever done, and any time it comes up, it just feels like it's stil a sort of scarred, very touchy issue, because of what happened with the revival, and because of how important the play is to him. In interviews, it just gets glossed over - maybe a sentence or two will touch on it, and then they rush on. I'm not really afraid of offending him or something, but just of having to dig up something he'd rather keep on the backburner. I'm not sure how to explain it, because in truth it probably is a bit silly to think that, but maybe that makes some sense. I don't want to be responsible for making him upset, I guess.

I'm indecisive, so, I open poll: yay or nay?

Em, you are always so elequent and did a great job summing it up.

I'm afraid becuase Raul is kind of a modest guy. I think it's normal to have authors and playwrites to sign their work, but having an actor sign a script of the play he was in is kind of a grey area to me. Especially one that's as sacred as The Normal Heart. Of course to me, Raul was such a big part of that play. I mean... he was Ned Weeks. But, to him the actor, it's just a character. And I know he's supersensitive to that play.

Emcee baby, if he thinks that this play was the most important thing he did, I am sure he will be very touched and thrilled to see that someone else loves the show so much, that they went and got the script to keep the show forever ! You are sharing his love of something precious for him, so you will probably make him way more happy than a bunch of kids screaming about Chitty !

re: Flea Market Celebrity Table Information

He's never signed a Chitty playbill of mine. Maybe I'll take the easy way out and just be like "POTTS! CHITTY" like one of the crazy little children. I guess I could toss it in my bag and then assess the situation the day of. *shrug* Asking for stuff is never comfortable as it is, so... eek.

kangaroo- you give them money then walk down the table getting everyones signature for that particular time slot. photographs are extra (with your own camera). ive never done it so i cant give much more detail than that.

re: Flea Market Celebrity Table Information

Thanks mistress, sorry for the caps lock... I just felt that everyone claimed to have gone in years past, but were vague about the details of the celebrity table.

Does anyone know where the picture is taken? Do the actors get up and walk away from the table to take pictures? I don't understand how that would work at all... especially if there is a line.

re: Flea Market Celebrity Table Information

If someone is doing the table but not the photobooth, can you take a person with said person at the table or do they prevent that to keep the line moving? also, do they keep it moving pretty fast so there's just time for a signature and then you movie on?

ie: not that i'm very good at it, but would there be any chance for even limited conversation at the table (1 or 2 minutes) or is it better to try to catch people before or after to talk.

i guess i'll find all of this out when i get there and i should stop being so neurotic about planning because things always change when you get there and all the planning ends up not mattering so much but just wondering.

re: Flea Market Celebrity Table Information

Wait... there is a photobooth?

I'm being neurotic too alix, because it's my first time going to the flea markte... and I have no idea how it works. I didn't realize that you needed to buy your own poster from BC/EFA to get autographs on if you didn't bring anything.

What happens if the person you want to get an autograph from is at the "photo booth"? Do you miss them... or wait for them? Gah, I'm so confused!
#44

re: Flea Market Celebrity Table Information

You DON'T have to buy a poster to get celebrity autographs! Each celeb has a pad and a marker so they can give you an autograph without the other hooey.

The photo booth is a little stage that is set up near the celeb table. The celebrity's are called tot he stage from time-to-time and you can have your picture taken with them for an additional sum. I think it's $10. You don't have to go through the celebrity table in order to get your picture taken with one of your favorites. At least that's the way it was in previous years.

re: Flea Market Celebrity Table Information

Thanks dolly... what do the pads look like? And are you allowed to wait if an actor you want an autograph from is at the photo stage? ... wow that's going to take ages, trying to get pictures with people and their autographs too? Two different lines to stand...

re: Flea Market Celebrity Table Information

If you have your camera with you when you're on the celebrity autograph line, then you don't have to pay, since it's not in the actual photo booth.
