Anyone interested in being commissioned to pick up a few Phantom items for someone all the way in Michigan?

Can we assign like 1 or 2 posters who can't go to the flea market to a poster who is going? We can give them a list of what we want and how much to spend..etc...
Or...is that wishful thinking?

I am new to this, so bear with me. How do the pictures work? Can you get one with anyone at the table that hour? I ask because Bebe Neuiwirth is at the table from 11-12, and I have been dying to get a picture with her forever. $30 ($20for the line and $10 for the picture) is more than worth it for a dream come true!

I'd consider volunteering, but I've already got 3 or 4 friends who are out-of-state that I've got to keep my eyes peeled for.
You've still got a couple weeks though...maybe you can wrangle someone up!

Whoever is emceeing the event (last year it was Scott Nevins) will call a celebrity over and announce into the microphone that it's time for so-and-so to go to the photo booth. You'd then have to get off the autograph line and go onto the photo line. However, when you pay the $10 for the photo, they take a Poloroid for you and put it in a frame which the celebrity signs so you might just want to do a photo.

Ooh, exciting!
Last year I bought a poster and went through the line 3 times and had everyone sign, it looks very pretty!

Posted: 9/6/06 at 12:30pmFor the photos, the guy there took requests---th more a person was requested, the more likely they would come down for a picture. And, if you are willing to pay more, you might get more thatn one person (for example, a guy paid $150 to have his picture taken with Chris Seiber, Tim Curry, and David Hyde Pierce). The only drawback, is if you are in line for the autographs, and a person you are wanting an autograph from is in the picture ring, you might miss them.

#41re: Flea Market?
Posted: 9/13/06 at 1:39pmA quick thing to add about the photos: they have a Poloroid camera, but you can also have the picture taken on your own camera, if you bring one.

Why is that, do you mind sharing?
Personally, I'm not sure I would like to do that. Maybe the autographs, but not the picture. The point of pictures, for me, is to have the memory of the conversation and the show. With this you don't really get that. But I totally understand people who do want to do it.

Posted: 9/13/06 at 2:22pmAshley, in response to your question, mostly because I've worked in professional theatre for years. I do send quite a donation to BCEFA every year and I just can't justify paying money to stand on line to meet people I can meet for free. That's just me though.

I agree wholeheartdly with you CJR. I too can't bring myself to do it. For instance, I'm seeing Drowsy that day and I plan on stage dooring it so I can meet Beth Leavel. Why would I pay to meet her and take a picture an hour before hand when I could do it for free after the show? I'm not agianst BCEFA at all, as I do participate in alot of events, its just one of those things that seem silly to me.

No offense, but that attitude is grating. Of COURSE you can meet these people for free, easily so if they're currently on a Broadway show. But many of the celebrities who will be there AREN'T currently on a Broadway show, nor are they as accessible. And many, many people don't have time to be standing around outside a stagedoor just to meet an actor (not to mention, many people simply don't feel comfortable doing that). The Flea Market is a good opportunity to meet, get autographs and pictures with a group of celebrities - and it's all for a good cause.
It's fine if you don't want to do it. But don't denounce it as "silly".

I tend to agree about not getting the big to-do about the celeb table. I think there would have to be someone truly special there for me to shell out the money for an autograph. Like, say, Vanessa Redgrave. I'd happily dole out a hefty sum to get her autograph on my Long Day's Journey into Night window card. Some day, Vanessa! Some day this spring when she's back in The Year of Magical Thinking. *fingers crossed*
I'll already be breaking the bank elsewhere on Flea Market day, and if I want to "toss" money away (as much as you can for charity), I'll do it on the ticket raffle (which I never win). Besides, it seems like kind of a waste of time, standing in line there, while there are all the tables to scrounge through!
ETA: I can also see where you're coming from Chica. I'm sure a lot of people that may be coming from out of town will find it a good bang for their buck (and I'd imagine if you do multiple trips and get one of the Flea Market posters signed it would looks pretty sharp). I just never really saw the appeal.
