I understand why people wouldn't want to do it. What I take umbrage to is denouncing the whole thing as "silly" or an "unnecessary waste of money". For a lot of people, it IS worth $20 to speak to or get a picture with actors they admire. I'm as cynical as the next person, but I see no reason to complain about something that's fun for a lot of people, and all for a good cause.

And if Edie Falco is there, I am SO paying my $20 to get in line. Carmela Soprano, man!

The Flea Market is like Christmas to me. I can't WAIT! I've never done the autograph line or the photo thing. It always looks so chaotic to me. Spending the money not justifiable? It's for charity! To each his own. I usually spend the $20 it would take to go through the line once on a DVD from Broadway Beat.
