Did you ever have any musicals that flopped that you liked much better than a show praised for reasons that escaped you?

Totally agree
I am still trying to find out why the jumping around that was called choreography in SA won a Tony.

I did not see all the shows in the Best Choregraphy category that year. Also, did Spring Awakening truly deserve the win in that category? I'm not sure. But this has been discussed countless times before, and the movement in SA is considered choreography. Choreography doesn't always have to be a repeated and overly complex routine. I thought the movement went along well with the theme of the entire show, which is probably why it won.
Whether you actually liked the show or not is a separate issue, so I don't understand why the need to imply it was not choreography.

Do we have to pick the same season, or can they just be any flop vs hit from the past 100 years...
As for Spring Awakening--while I'm a fan, and liked the choreography, playing Devil's Advocate here, Bill T. Jones is also a hugely respected person in the dance community, and SA was his first Broadway musical. That could have influenced voters.

AVENUE Q ... Not sure why this won the awards and is a "hit."
PIMPERNEL is/was a "Guilty Pleasure" of mine.
I have learned to wonder about and search for the reason why I bought into the RENT hype... and then I hear SEASONS OF LOVE... Then I realize THAT is the only reason.
