With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-

"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

I saw Little Women five times (my personal record). Loved it.

The Capeman - Fascinating, and a great score - after the first act, I thought it was salvageable; after the second, not really.

Side Show - I kind of loved it, especially for the score. I guess it comes down to whether you can take siamese twins singing "I Will Never Leave You" seriously and I did.

Triumph of Love - Cute show, but who knew just how awesome that cast really was (Sieber, Opel, Bart, Chamberlain, etc.)

Dance of the Vampires - Loved it. Agree it was awful, but parts were brilliant, which is the best kind of flop.

Urban Cowboy - Ridiculous. Had no business existing. Jenn Colella was nonetheless awesome.

Amour - Delightful. I knew it had no shot, but I still very much liked it.

Thou Shalt Not - "Tuuuug - booooat, Tuuuug -booooat" + Debra Monk post-stroke trying to spell things with Scrabble letters = Glad I saw it. The opening and closing numbers (the same song, actually) were fun, and Norbert as a barefoot ghost at least made it entertaining.

Marie Christine - Wanted to slit my wrists, and I went in wanting to love it.

Wild Party - Similar. I was with it for the first hour until I realized nothing would happen for the whole show and there was no intermission. I loved the orchestrations which made parts of it sound almost like a Gershwin opera.

Kat and the Kings - Okay, I only second acted it, but it was fun and I can still hum you one of the catchier tunes, "Lagunya". Not surprised it didn't do well.

Big - Awww, "Big". I saw it early in previews in Detroit, and then much improved on Broadway. It was never great, but I loved seeing a Maltby & Shire show develop.

By Jeeves - I barely even remember seeing it.

The Goodbye Girl - I saw it in Chicago where the plot was still a gay Richard III as in the movie, and not the contrived man-playing-a-woman-playing-a-man thing they settled on. I liked it, and expected it to do better. A lot of the score is pretty great, and Martin Short wiped the stage with Bernadette.

Steel Pier - Snore. On my way out, I overheard a young man and his (presumably) Grandfather discussing the show. Kid: "I thought the ending was pretty lame." Granddad: "I thought the whole thing was pretty lame."

The Life - Loved it. Sharon Wilkins as Big Chi-Chi who, we learn, eventually gets run over by a garbage truck. Lilias White surrendering to the cops in her "heroin stagger". Sam Harris pretending to be into a three-way because of the girl. Loved it.

Thanks for indulging me on this Tony afternoon...

The Pirate Queen

phenomenal sets costumes and lighting. Amazing performances. Superb story.

I think the only reason it was a flop was because it's music was memorable.

But my family really enjoyed it.
