Did anyone see the concert? i thought it was great...especially newcomer Nick Cearley. I have seen him in a couple benefits lately, and i am always so impressed. He and Lauren Molina from Sweeney sang a cute duet. Everyone else was good too. Let me know you're reviews if you saw it.
could you post a song list? anything from Bring Back Birdie? thanks!!
Oh Cutz. I thought this thread was about something else.
n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-ice, bobby.
whatever you say mr always flopz.
I was at Cutz! (couldn't make it to Flopz!) and it was great. What a fantastic lineup. Loved it. Don't have a song list with me right now, but I'm sure someone will post that soon.
I was at both.
Yes there was a song from Bring Back Birdie, I don't remember which one. Was there one about a boy who was obsessed with Marilyn Monroe? Christopher Hanke sang that, I think that was the right show.
Christopher Hanke was at Flopz? Did he also song My Mother's Son?
He did not sing anything from In My Life, though there were lots of jokes about it. Jamie kept handing out free CDs (the sampler) and everyone was laughing because everyone already had the CD. Christopher also talked about his experience in the show, did he know, when he knew, etc.
My favorite was Lisa Howard singing her cut ballad from 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.

I know there was a song about a boy obsessed with Monroe in Marilyn: An American Fable...could that have been the song he sang?
Yeah, Chris J Hanke sang from Marilyn
Donna Lynne Champlin sang I Love Em All from Bring Back Birdie
Yeah, that sounds more like what I was thinking of.
Hopefully Jamie will come on and post a song list!
Liotte, what did Lisa say about the cut BEE song? Where in the show was it and what was it about?

yes it was great. highlights included (for me) christopher hanke and the marilyn song, donna lynne champlin (in both shows), lisa howard, natalie joy johnson, and the lauren molina/nick cearley duet. very funny.
Alexander Gemignani singing My World is Coming Unwrapped from Oh, Brother! was awesome... I love that song and that whole CD and that show
And Peter Howard doing the Chicago stuff was wonderful as well.

Peter Howard was literally, awesome. Incredible.
Hey thanks to everyone who showed up!!! I had a fantastic time and it seems you did too!
I think you've covered most of your own questions, and Alli, my able assistant posted a song list.
It was so exciting having Peter Howard there...such a generous and sweet man.
Some nice fun surprises...Laura Benanti only was asked to come sing a couple days ago and it was great to hear her sing more Lucy Simon stuff. Christopher Hanke was really fantastic about me interviewing him about IN MY LIFE. And having Paul Scott Goodman and Natascia do some songs from Bright Lights Big City was a blast...they're apparently redoing it in Philly at the Prince this year, with Stafford Arima at the helm...I'm sure it will be pretty amazing. Nick and Lauren of course with the Sondheim duet from Forum-adorable.
A lot of McBenefit debuts!!! Always exciting to have new people whom I haven't worked with before, show up. Lisa Howard-going to be a major Bway star in a matter of minutes, I'm certain. Alex Gemignani-it's rare to hear someone so effortless when they sing. Donna Lynne Champlin-adding a tap break in the middle of the number (which it most definitely called for), Eric Michael Gillett reprising two roles, The crazy multi-talented and brilliant John Cariani on Dear, Sweet Sewing Machine from FIDDLER, and the ever-impressive DB Bonds on I Could Be In Love (cut from Last 5 Years).
And then who would dare miss Max von Essen reprising For Sarah from Vampires, Marty Thomas bringing the house down with Bring on the Men, and the UNREAL Natalie Joy Johnson (who is incidentally reprising her show from Joe's Pub at the Cutting Room on March 15th-Don't Miss it)?
Glad so many of you made it-and thanks to Michael Lavine-SO BRILLIANT AT WHAT HE DOES!
See ya at the Next One!
Keep your eye out for BECOME:The Music of Pasek and Paul at Joe's Pub in May...I'll let you know when tickets are on sale. These guys are fantastic!
Love, Jamie
Hearing Max von Essen sing "For Sarah" again completed my life.
But I don't know what to do, I don't have one "In My Life" CD!
...I have six!
Unfortunately I was confined to my sick bed for this.
Well at least the money went to a good cause!
Sounds like a lot of great performers, looking forward to the next Jamie production.
