Is anyone planning on catching "The Scarlet Pimpernel" at Sacramento Music Circus this week?
It opened tonight and has a pretty impressive cast including Brad Little as Percy, Leah Hocking as Marguerite, and William Michals who was perfection as Chauvelin on the national tour. If anyone is seeing it tonight, definitely post a review. And if you're considering catching it during its 5-day run, PM me and maybe we can coordinate days.
I'm hoping to find time this week to make the 2 hour drive to our state's capitol. SP closes on the 22nd in order to make room for JCS with Max Von Essen and Charlie Pollock opening on the 24th. It's a good month to be in Sac-Town I guess.

Why is everything good up in NorCal? Can't it come down to SoCal?
I'm seeing Pimpernel up there this weekend. May report back, depending on who else does it before I do.
Then I may just add stuff...
I'm seeing Pimpernel on Sunday. I've never seen this show before, so I'm really looking forward to it.

Two of my best friends are seeing it, and my music professor is one of the music directors for sac music surface, so I will have them tell me their review!

Has anyone seen any of their earlier shows this summer - like Footloose or Oklahoma? Any reviews of those?
I saw OKLAHOMA. Enjoyed it very much. Jenn Cody as Ado Annie pretty much stole the show.

I used to work for the California Music Circus. I think their shows are amazing! Good Luck on Scarlet Pimpernel
I am in Sacramento and see it Saturday matinee. I work there and from what I have heard, it is a great show and a great cast. I watched some of the rehearsal on Sunday and it sounds amazing! I can't wait to see it and will give a full report.
I have seen all the shows there this summer. Jen Cody was HYSTERICAL in Oklahoma! I was disappointed in Footloose. A lot has changed. The authors were in town because they have been working on the show since Broadway. They saw it opening night (I sould have brought my Carrie playbill for Dean Pitchford to sign!!!) They weren't happy with the Broadway version. Gone is the "rap" and the country song. There is a new country song called "Still Rockin'" that is better, but not amazing. "I Confess" is gone. I love that song and it really tells the story of Rev. Shaw changing is mind. Now, there is just a scene that isn't nearly effective. Some other dialogue changes....Ariel sings "learning to be silent" with the two moms now. Overall, I like the Broadway version better.
Anyone want a road trip to Sacramento?

I am disappointed that "I Confess" was removed from the show. That show has long been one of my two favorite from the show. I do also like "Almost Paradise". "I Confess" does such a good job in showing how the father changes his perspectives.
They also did The Fantasticks with Norm Lewis as El Gallo! Did anyone see that?

Yes! He was FANTASTIC. The show was probably my favorite of the summer so far. I had never seen it live and it was an excellent production. I see how it could work better in smaller houses, but it was a great show. Hopefully we will get him back next summer. He mentioned some shows he wants to do and they could be in the works for Music Circus!
Anastasia~ what do you do at Music Circus?
