Phyl, you know damn well that Angie is (next to Susan Boyle and Orfeh) the most perfect embodiment of divinity incarnate.
Why, there are other actors who actually have to wear an earpiece and be fed their lines b/c they can't even memorize them!
All sarcasm aside, she is a true legend and I love her. I love her even more for being imperfect.
best12bars is right...the clips make me a little nervous, but they're just clips. Hopefully, the leading ladies come off very differently on stage. I'm sure they do as ljay says.

We don't love perfection- we love the flaws.
Having, you know, actually seen the show, I would caution anyone from taking too much from that video montage. I found CZJ's performance to be far more understated than what was shown there. Just be glad they didn't show too much Henrik. He was the only thing that I really disliked in the show. There were a few instances where the orchestrations seemed a little flat, but I actually enjoyed the set. Erin Davie doesn't make as much of the role as she could, but still has some good delivery here and there.
The other thread about "Not bad, not great" pretty much sums up my feeling on it.
Are they using a Close 'N Play for the orchestra? That sucked the carpets - and the life - out of the the clip. I saw the original and this looks pretty sad.
Broadway, what's happened to it? (Sorry, Stephen).
If these clips aren't doing the performers justice, then why on earth release them?

Best, how DARE you. That was brilliant acting and musical perfection while making it appear effortless. Musical PERFECTION!
Best, I agree 100%! No idea why they'd let this stuff be shown when it's not really all that representative of the show. At least now the performance I saw...
Here's another example of a video clip not being a good representation of the live performance.

I thought this number was absolutely fantastic live, but she comes across quite awkward here.
Hmmm...First Wives Club...I still don't think that it looks good. I didn't see it, so I can't say first hand, but from everything I've seen and heard from the show I am just not impressed.
Did you see it Pgenre? What'd you think?
And ljay, yes, Christiane Noll does not come off as good on video as she is in person. During that number in the theatre I had chills.
FWC IS THE GREATEST MUSICAL EVER WRITTEN!

So, I'm guessing you liked it.
And just to get back on the topic of this thread...I've been listening to an audio recording of Night Music and wow...Hunter...WHAT is he doing?! Of course, it's just an audio recording and he may act the role well, but those SCREAMS! Totally not a fan.
That FWC clip - she is singing right below the notes on a good deal of that song. I had to turn it off

In this clip, Angela sings "What's happened to them." When she's singing "What can anyone expect, except to recollect?" she sounds so cute. She's supposed to be drifting to sleep at the end of her song. I love "Liaisons."

To me, Hunter was the only weak link in the show. His entire performance was over the top to me but I figured it was supposed to be comical (sort of like Johanna in the original Sweeney DVD). I'm not sure I'm reading that right but that was the only way I could justify it at the time, especially those *screams* you were referring to. Perhaps he was directed to do it that way? I saw it the first weekend of previews so I hope he's toned it down a bit since then.
(this is a re-post, as my original message went missing)
I suddenly realized what was bothering me about this footage. While she is singing wonderfully, Catherine Zeta Jones seems to be channeling Lauren Bacall in "Applause." The facial mannerisms are absolutely identical (there's all sorts of footage on Youtube of the TV production of "Applause" to prove my point.
It's eerie.
