Meh. Barely any dramatic tension and not very rounded performances from "the other side." Actually no one really developed, and some of the acting was just...embarrassing. Like as a play, it wasnt very good. And it won't really change many minds as it seemed to be written by and for the pro gay marriage voters...I really did want to like it. Positives: Jayne Houdyshell was hilarious and had the strongest character I think. Cheyenne and Matt, the technically two of the leads had about 5 lines in the entire show...it was odd how there relationship was never explored...I have more thoughts but alas I need to do homework. I'll post more later. Oh wait, it was a pleasure to hear Morgan's voice live.
How was Bradley Whitford?
@jordan sorry thats what people kept saying......
Interesting. My friend got on the rush line about the time of your initial post. Sometime before 8am someone who works in the theatre came out, walked down the line, stopped several people behind where my friend was on line, and told that section that there were more than enough tickets for everyone up to that point.
Wonder who those people who 'kept saying' there were only 20 tickets were.
Well it's in the past now. Still hoping for a link, though...

What were you expecting? The point of the play was to raise awareness for the trial's arguments since the videos are being blocked. Not for it to become the next 12 Angry Men, with progressive plot development and climactic courtroom scenes.
I know the purpose of the evening was clearly lost on you since you paid $40 to see a benefit performance (of course every dollar raised is for the best, but talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth), however it was quite evident in all the press that this was going to be a non-fiction account, not a literary work.
Woah. I am aware of all of those lovely things, but with all of the talented people involved I just expected something a little more gripping. It was awesome being in the presence of such legends though.
thanks for saying what I was thinking Orangeskittles. I was there as well and really enjoyed it. I learned a lot and can't wait to see where it goes from here. Pretty surreal seeing all of those people on the same stage.
I certainly enjoyed myself, and loved seeing what I had read about the people involved, and the trial come to life in a theatrical way. I certainly hope this isn't the last we'll hear of it. While some added development of characters and relationships would have been a bit more appealing to big theatre fans, I think the performance served its purpose.
