If you go onto that site and search "Nine Original Production" you're in for a treat from 1982.

I can't believe I just saw Anita Morris's CALL FROM THE VATICAN!

I much much much prefer the original Call From Vatican to the new one. I love Jane to death, but hers doesn't compare.

Hopefully this won't turn into what happened with "that show." I'm so happy! Tommy Tune's staging was so brilliant! I wish Folies Bergeres and Karen Akers' two solos would go up next.

Night. I agree. Nothing will ever beat Anita's version. From her vocals, her moves, her costume, her sexuality - it will never be matched.

I can't get over her flexibility.

We can thank the brilliant William Ivey Long for that costume. He did fabulous work on Nine.

The original production of NINE was so far superior to the revival in every way. How fabulous to see this clips. Thank you

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

Wow!

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

People, they've been up for a while, but make sure you try to save them if you can (using www.KeepVid.com) in case some jerk tatles to Actor's Equity.

Thanks jv92. I only saw the original production once so it was good to see those clips. I also saw the National Tour in LA and it was horrible. I was in no way disappointed with the revival. I saw it twice and enjoyed it very, very much.

Loved the revival so it's fantastic to see original footage!

Jane Krakowski was very vocal about the fact she considered Anita Morris' performance legendary and she didn't want to imitate her in any way. I think the way they went with her "A Call from the Vatican" in the revival was quite solid even if it seemed gimmicky to some people, the way it was performed definitely exhalted Carla's sexuality.
Anita Morris is one of a kind and her moves in NINE will probably always be attached to the memory of the show in any revival or production, she was just too brilliant to surpass. As I said in another thread, she moved like she had no bones, and she embodied sex without being obnoxious or trashy.

Wow! That is really something.

I remember back when the national tour was in Los Angeles that the actress playing this part performed the song on the Johnny Carson show, in a solid bodysuit.

Anita did things that that actress couldn't possibly do, even at 12:30 at night!

Does anyone know who played Carla in this national tour?
I know Wanda Richert was one of the replacements and Kim Criswell understudied the role at one point, but I wonder if anyone else that is known today played the role back then.

She was one of a kind, that Anita Morris, but I still think the best gal up there was Karen Akers. She gave a brilliant performance.

It was very smart for the revival to do something COMPLETELY different with that song. As Jane said, the original was legendary. No one should compare Krakowski to Morris - it's just not fair. I can't think of a better way to stage the revival's Carla.
