Beagle - thanks for the clarification. I have nothing against Miss Fisher, I actually enjoyed her on that Maria tv show. I really don't understand Songanddanceman's animosity towards her, but to each his own. I was more interested in the 8 shows a week thing. To me, with the new type of music they are writing (all belting), it would be very taxing.

I agree with the general consensus of "depends on the role and the performer." Certain roles are more condusive to fatigue and strain (the big belters, typically). But some performers have the kind of instrument that can handle it...

I saw the musical Brooklyn on the last performance of a 12 show week, and the vocals were flawless.

But still...there's a reason that the MET only does 5 performances per week.
