Did you also feal that Debroah S. Craig's character was forgettable? I mean, she was really good but....I felt that she was one of those un-needed characters.

In a way. She was definitely one of the lesser-used females [but aren't all the women in Bee - except for Celia - a bit underused?], and she had less material to work with than the others. Another point that comes to mind is that there seemed to be a few variations on the basic overachiever theme - Marcy, who's just blithe and "unfazed," Logainne, who is more easily flustered, Chip, who's just horny...

Overall, though, I thought Deborah put the material she was given to amazing use. And Six Languages is such a showstopper that I didn't think Marcy was "forgettable" or "unneeded" per say, just underwritten.

Sorry about the novel...

Well, yeah! She only has like 1 song (1 song I always skip on the CD) And she was funny! But....I didn't like her all that much...now I LOVED Logainne!! My favorite charater!

I didn't think she was forgettable, and I thought Deborah did a great job with the part, but I think the part could have been better written. You hear a lot about and see both Olive's and Logainne's parents, but not about her's. I wish we did.

ETA: Her song is one of my favorites on the cd, though.

I Speak Six Languages is one of my favorites in the score too.

She was wonderful at Second Stage, but even better once they moved to Broadway -- probably the biggest improvement in the cast.

I was a little depressed that her little "Pandemonium" reprise wasn't recorded, it was adorable.

And Logainne's my personal favorite character as well. :) [No, it has nothing to do with Sarah Saltzberg being the nicest, most-giving-when-it-comes-to-her-fans member of the cast. Really.]

I love Deborah and find that as I child, I was most similar to her character.

The entire cast is so nice and giving to their fans, there is no way I can pick a favorite.

Did you also feel that this is like the 6th pointless Spelling Bee thread you started?

Not to forget the Barrett thread.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sarah Saltzenberg (sp?), Lisa Howard, and the guy who played the vice principle didn't come out! Just saying!

Ok lets count:
1) This one knocking Deborah Craig’s performance
2) The I SAW BARRETT AND HE TOLD ME HE NEVER SAW THE SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3) The thread totally devoted to the fact that you spelled a hard word right then eventually lost
4) The thread that asked about how to become a speller.

Ok so maybe I exaggerated a little (even though there are probably more to come). But its still more than 3. God! Can you count?

And as an interesting aside you basically agreed that this is the 3rd pointless Spelling Bee thread, so maybe you can stop starting them.

this one and the 4th one are NOT pointless!

I don't think the other two were either!

AND this isn't knocking her performance! I just thought the character was a little pointless! I thought she was good!

I thought her performance and character was far from forgettable. But people have different opinions.

Your Right! I must of misunderstood your glowing review of her performance.

Maybe they'll put that up on the theatre marquee.

Well, back on topic. I went with my mom and Deborah was the only person in the cast she said anything about after we left the theater, so I don't feel her character is forgettable. I LOVE her song "I speak 6 Languages," one of my favorites in the score. I also think she is very talented, not that other people said otherwise.

I grew up knowing tons of Marcy Parks (most Asian, some not), so although I couldn't personally identify with her, I found her pretty hysterical.

Haven't seen it on Broadway, so I can't say anything about seeing Deborah Craig.
