Has anyone heard anything about the 2998-2009 Broadway Series South Season? The announcement seems a little late this year........

I haven't heard anything yet, but I'm excited to see what the season will include! I'm not sure when they'll make the announcement... hopefully soon!

Your neighbors in VA here are getting Wicked, Ave Q, Spamalot, and 2 more that i can't recall. It's gonna be a good season this year.

Another thing to keep in mind is that, next season, Broadway Series South isn't the only avenue to watch touring shows. The Durham Performing Arts Center will have its inaugural season of Broadway Carolina. RENT (with Adam and Anthony) is the first show on the schedule.

Exactly. Any Nederlander tours will go through Durham now instead of Raleigh. Durham is getting RENT, LEGALLY BLONDE, THE COLOR PURPLE, and FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.

For this reason, it's been a little trickier for BROADWAY SERIES SOUTH to put together their season - but it'll be announced very shortly.

NORTH CAROLINA THEATRE is doing PETER PAN this summer and then WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND and PHANTOM (Yeston/Kopit version). They'll announce their next season soon, too.

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
