Announced replacements that never happened

Both Gladys Knight and Natalie Cole were announced for AFTER MIDNIGHT, but the show closed before their scheduled debuts.

Will the Tony Awards renew their contract with CBS?

The Oscars are moving to YouTube in 2029, not the Tonys. Nothing has been announced as of yet about the future plans for the Tonys if they or CBS decide not to renew their contract.

BEACHES Previews

I guess I must have a higher pain threshold or something, because I didn’t think this was nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. I think its biggest sins are that it feels like a show from 30 or 40 years ago (which considering that the youngest person on the writing team is 82 years old makes sense), its cheap set and costume design make the recent revival of THE WIZ look lavish and expensive in comparison, and the music is just kind of……well, it’s mus

Paddington at the Al Hirschfeld

I’d be delighted to see the full cast transfer here, but with the show already being on the pricier side, I have my doubts that they’d be willing to take on the extra expense of housing everyone in NYC. I could definitely see the four actors who won Oliviers being offered the chance to transfer, though.

2026-2027 Season Tour Launches

Luminaire2 said: "Not sure if it’s been in any seasons this year, but sounds like Boop is also going out non-union. Sigh.

That’s pretty typical for shows that flopped on Broadway. They either go out non-union or never tour at all.

OH, MARY! Reviews

Cole hasn’t missed a show during either run yet.

John Cardoza Makes Emergency Return to Moulin Rouge

Just for clarity, he returned to the tour which is in Mexico City right now, not the Broadway production.

Agree!

"I feel bad for Bob. This show ran at a loss for 24/25 and it is losing way more this season - so while Bob is great this feels like a losing effort. Hope it showcases him into other shows.

DREAMGIRLS is finally returning to Broadway

^ Y’know, you don’t have to type EVERY thought onto a message board and post it. Some opinions should be kept to yourself, especially when they come to an actor’s skin color not being dark enough for you.

Anyways, I’m thrilled Dreamgirls is coming back, and even MORE thrilled that it’s not the Casey Nicholaw revival. I’m still not over him having Curtis leave so early during “And I Am Telling You.” Or the whole “montage” in th

ROB LAKE MAGIC WITH SPECIAL GUESTS THE MUPPETS to Open at the Broadhurst

Poor Muppets, defunded and bullied by Trump and now reduced to a backup act on Broadway. SAD.

I’m sure this was meant as a joke, but The Muppets are owned by Disney and are not tied to Sesame Street or PBS.

The Wiz Joins the Criterion Collection

I got to see the re-release Universal put in theaters a few weeks ago to show off the new restoration. The film looks the best it’ll probably ever look. The colors were so vibrant, and the MANY wide shots in the movie looked gorgeous on the big screen, especially the Emerald City sequence. Those COSTUMES.

My biggest takeaway was that the film isn’t THAT bad. The concept of Oz being a fantasy version of NYC is unique and memorable. The cast gives it their all, even

The Princess Bride Musical - To Premiere in Chicago

A casting notice was just posted with the creative team listed:

Book: Bob Martin & Rick Elice
Music: Robert and Kirsten Lopez
Music Supervisor: Tom Kitt

Return of Heathers?

And yet, she’ll still get to sing more in this than she did in MEAN GIRLS.

Les MIs tour cast to Boycott Trump performance

Seb28 said: "seaweedjstubbs said: "Please do not judge....especially not those who are sitting out of that one performance."

They are the ones who judge. They judge audience members. It really is just as evil as being hired for any job and refusing to serve people who are black or gay. You might think you are winning your personal hate battle, or even lie to yourself that it's noble, but the world is losing with that standpoint. You really wo

Les MIs tour cast to Boycott Trump performance

The cast and crew of Les Mis are being put in an impossible situation that none of them asked for. Please do not judge those who decide to perform and especially not those who are sitting out of that one performance. You have absolutely no idea the immense stress they’ve all been under.

MOULIN ROUGE! Broadway Casting Thread

EDSOSLO858 said: "Apparently, the reason why the Wayne Brady + TayeDiggs post was deleted was because the social media team was unaware that the closing notice was going to be announced before the two of them were confirmed to be joining. (Don’t quote me on this, though.)

If ROUGE! sticks it out, the Shubert would be an enticing pivot if HK continues to slip.

Not even a little bit true. You’re making things up again, Arnold.

MOULIN ROUGE! Broadway Casting Thread

Solea is doing her shows at Cafe Carlyle this weekend. Last night was her first one, but I think she was already scheduled to be out of the show all week. I saw an Instagram story somewhere about it.

Have You Left at Intermission?

I think I’ve only ever left one show at intermission. AVENUE Q at New World Stages. But it wasn’t because of the show itself.

I was killing time sitting outside by Blockheads (RIP) when an older gentleman approached me. He said, “Would you like a free ticket to AVENUE Q? I’ve been trying to give it away, but everyone’s treating me like a creep.” That should’ve been my first clue NOT to take the ticket, but I was a broke recent college gra

Is the HAIRSPRAY Revival Off?

Seemed odd that they were trying to bring it back to Broadway after touring the non-Equity tour for the last few years. Would’ve made more sense if they’d gone the MAMMA MIA route and had an Equity tour that made a stop on Broadway. But who knows? If they could get a star as Edna, I could still see it happening.

2025 - 2026 Touring Season

According to a casting notice, the WATER FOR ELEPHANTS tour will be non-Equity. Was this already known?
