Posted: 9/27/08 at 3:44pmAnyone else think the new edition needs to be recorded? I saw it last night, and it was FABULOUS! One of the best editions of "FB" I have ever seen!! It got great reviews, and if the show really is closing forever in January, I think they should make one more CD! The South Pacific, In The Heights, Gypsy and Xanadu numbers are HILARIOUS!!! The cast is awesome!! Lets get a recording made, Gerard!!!

Posted: 9/27/08 at 3:52pmI went on Tuesday and Stephen Sondheim was there and I got his autograph. But besides that, the shows is awesome. I've seen four editions and this was by far my favorite. My favorite was the Daniel Radcliffe spoof. I hope to see it at least once more.

Posted: 9/27/08 at 3:53pmI saw the show on Monday night, and spoke with the usher there, and he said that they are going to record a cd for this new version. I loved it!

Saw the show tonight, and like many of you, it was my 4th or 5th experience with Forbidden Broadway. A few thoughts:
1) This version is fantastic! Absolutely one of the best. So funny, and the impressions are, as always, uncanny.
2) The 'tribute' to Sondheim at the end was, for me, actually moving. I mean, can you believe it, at Forbidden Broadway I actually got some goose bumps and a bit teary-eyed?! . . . After thinking about it, I give credit to the original song. It is simply impossible to spoof "Sunday." The music and lyrics are too beautiful, too powerful.
3) Yes, as for the CD, I will buy it the moment it comes out.
4) The [tos] spoof was boring, pointless, and gratuitous. It really shouldn't have been there. But I guess that was the whole point, right? It was hysterical that they mentioned the “original idea” of four actors/singers on the stage with one piano, producing a show full of obscure references to Broadway.
Hysterical.
That's all for now.
Peace.

***SPOILER***
They spoof the Opening/Title number of IN THE HEIGHTS, where Usnavi introduces all the characters. A lot of the jokes revolve around how many unnecessary words are needed to pull off "narrative rap," and how, when it comes down to it, ITH is just a watered-down version of WEST SIDE STORY -- or, as they put it "West Side Lite," a show "about the Latino experience made for a bunch of white people."
Hysterical.
In fact, "Maria" herself makes an appearance in the spoof, complete with her gun from the last act of West Side Story.
But if you want to find out who she saves the last bullet for, you'll just have to go see the show. . . .
