Saw the show tonight, and like many of you, it was my 4th or 5th experience with Forbidden Broadway. A few thoughts:
1) This version is fantastic! Absolutely one of the best. So funny, and the impressions are, as always, uncanny.
2) The 'tribute' to Sondheim at the end was, for me, actually moving. I mean, can you believe it, at Forbidden Broadway I actually got some goose bumps and a bit teary-eyed?! . . . After thinking about it, I give credit to the original song. It is simply impossible to spoof "Sunday." The music and lyrics are too beautiful, too powerful.
3) Yes, as for the CD, I will buy it the moment it comes out.
4) The [tos] spoof was boring, pointless, and gratuitous. It really shouldn't have been there. But I guess that was the whole point, right? It was hysterical that they mentioned the “original idea” of four actors/singers on the stage with one piano, producing a show full of obscure references to Broadway.
Hysterical.
That's all for now.
Peace.
