I've had some questions about the first Fosse tour that happened around 2000 with Reva Rice.

First: Why did they decide to cut "Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag?"

Second: Why did Reva Rice get more than her fair share of songs unlike Broadway? She seemed to get Dancing in the Dark, I Gotcha and Who's Sorry Now? Not saying she didn't do an awesome job with them, but the lead didn't have them on Broaday (even when Reva did it on Broadway), so why on tour?

Thanks for any help Fosse Tour Questions

Wow! That was one great 1st National Tour.

I remember hearing that the "Nowadays"/"Hot Honey Rag" numbers were left out due to CHICAGO overkill. I guess they assumed that audiences would hate to see these numbers again? Well...you know what happens when we 'assume'. re: Fosse Tour Questions

I don't recall Reva doing "I Gotcha". She just did the Valarie Pettiford numbers from the Broadway version. Also, "Who's Sorry Now?" is an ensemble number -- no one leads nor is spotlighted.

Yeah actually a lot was cut from the original inception. I know lots of things got cut from the Broadway show because it was simply too long. Even with all the cuts the show ran a bit too long. My guess is that they felt the cuts were necessary to make the show a bit tighter.

As far as tracks go, there really isn't a lead. Some people are featured more than others. If you look at the DVD version. Ben Vereen and Ann Reinking do next to nothing. Ken Alan, Rachelle Rak and Meg Gillentine do far more than anyone else, yet no one is really billed above the other.
