Yeah it's a brilliant clip (though I hate those high waisted pants on the guys) and fun to compare with the Fosse performances
BrodyFosse123, I LOVE ALL the clips you put on that site. I would never have been able to see Chita and Gwen do Hot Honey Rag or see Donna Mckechnie do the two numbers from Charity on the tour. But, do you happen to have any footage of Valarie Pettiford in Fosse that you could put up? Possibly "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries" or "Mein Herr"
Thank you!
Brody-
Thank you for the Donna/Sweet Charity clips. I adore Donna McKechnie I've worked with Lenora Nemetz (only once) and she's fantastic, I've always wanted to see her Nickie!
Did you guys know that Graciella Danielle is working on a revival of one of these shows?
Not sure which one though.

Valarie Pettiford is the lead in the awesome performance of Blackbird I have from Rosie... but I dunno if youtube allows Rosie clips (they don't allow Sullivan I know)
I'm confused--Graciela is reviving Dancin or Fosse? ummm what would be the point of either....

Yeah, I have seen that clip before and it is pretty awesome. Becuase I have never seen Bebe dance live, I consider Valarie Pettiford to be the perfect Fosse dancer (who is not past their prime).
Sure...I'll post those clips of Valarie in FOSSE. Should be up by Friday.

I just watched the video----I had forgotten alot of Dancin---There was a number where the dancers wore all black with pink balls on them---very "black-light-ish". I can't remember the name of that number, but it was good visually.

BrodyFosse--have you ever seen the Fosse/Haney "I Love a Piano"?
Yes.
Carol (Haney) had the same dancing style of Mary Ann Niles (Bob's first wife) and Joan McCracken (his 2nd wife). Gwen was her own entity all together. Gwen truly captured his final developed style though I'm sure she could have also done the same with his earlier more athletic material.
I posted the Fosse & Niles "Indian Dance" from the 1951 COLGATE COMEDY HOUR on that site.

I have never had the privilege or opportunity to see any of the rare footage out there of Jack Cole (one of Fosse's and Verdon's most influential teachers), but it seems to me that some of what Fosse does in that "Indian Dance" is directly from some of the Cole classes I have taken - specifically, the deep second position "chug" downstage and the high jumps in flexed second position. Am I right about this? Was this the beginning of Fosse's experimentation with the integration of his teacher's world dance research?

Yeah most books on FOsse trace the start of his style to Jack Cole (mixed in with his burlesque, etc, experience of course).
I found an oddity while going thru my Ed Sullivan tapes--an outdoor Ed epsidoe from 1954 with Carol Haney and her two Steam Heat boys doing an even sillier number by the same composers ("the first song they ever wrote" apparantly) with VERY Steam Heat inspired choreography--dunno if she or Fosse did it.
