I'd happily attend that singalong. For the most part, the sing-a-longs currently around don't interest me, but I'd would so do this.
Pity the studio is stymieing (sp??) it.

Have Ellen come unglued on tv about it. That should get the public on their side.

Well, that FBI warning at the beginning of every DVD that says "for private home use only" is there for a reason. Sounds like it could have been fun, but they should have gone through the proper channels. The theaters REALLY should have known better.

markymatt, you're being ignorant. The theaters involved obtained permission from the proper channels, but FOX is claiming that the company (which produced Buffy) granted the rights without authorization to do so. That is NOT the same as playing a DVD in a theater without permission. Here's the relevant portion of the blog, which was also in an article on FOX News, which you clearly didn't take the time to read:
"A licensing company had originally given the green light for the sing-along events, however Fox believe the events go beyond the licensing agreements for the series."

Fosse76--thank you for so politely pointing out the part of the post I missed.
This is awful. I attended one of these at the IFC and it was a really great night! Die-hard Buffy fans, acting out scenes, everyone singing, screaming "Shut up Dawn" when she came on the screen, etc.
I certainly hope they're able to coninue these.
