Set in modern day, THE PASSION will follow the dramatic and inspirational story of Jesus of Nazareth, as he presides over the Last Supper, and then is betrayed by Judas, put on trial by Pontius Pilate, convicted, crucified and resurrected. The story will unfold live at some of New Orleans' most iconic locations, while featuring a procession of hundreds of people carrying a 20-foot, illuminated cross from Champion Square outside the Superdome to the live stage at Woldenburg Park on the banks of the Mississippi River.
Sounds gaudy.

Well. Looks like it'll take some names that I like to sit through this. Here's hoping FOX casts this as well as I think they've casted "Grease".

A Live broadcast of JCS for Easter with major names could actually be brilliant.

Actually, if a JCS broadcast were to happen, it's a prime candidate for being on NBC. Universal Pictures did the movie (and distributed the 2000 and 2012 video releases for Really Useful), and they own the publishing on the score in America. If they own even a piece of it, that's less legalities and red tape to cut through than the last three.
Personally, though, if they were to broadcast a JCS, I'd rather see the Hollywood benefit from 2006 which reunited Ted Neeley, Yvonne Elliman, and Barry Dennen in their film roles alongside guest stars like Ben Vereen, Clint Holmes, and Jack Black, which was reportedly filmed for possible broadcast (presumably on PBS' Great Performances), than any new version, be it with stars or unknowns.

Those execs at FOX must be sniffing glue. This is so W-T-F. And having Tyler Perry host it brings it to a whole 'nother level of schlock.
