My suspicion is that the heaviness of this subject matter calls for operatic treatment; at any rate, its emotional demands and huge moral dilemmas are beyond Wildhorn's scope. His style, for the most part, is a simplistic imitation of '30s popular music, and it's plagued by a distressing sameness of melody and structure.
Is there any subject matter that is NOT beyond Wildhorn's scope? Really, what IS he good at?

Ya gotta have a gimmick, I guess (as in the press release: "Nudity and Adult Themes") but really -- c'mon folks!

"Really, what IS he good at?"
Screwing young (and dumb) chorus girls.

OK this is crossing the line.
Not that I really should be going on this, but Linda Eder is only a few years shy of him. She was already famous (thanks to TV's Star Search) to an extent when he "found" her.
Brandi was similarly, never in the chorus of any Wildhorn show. God forbid people try to find love.
Let's try to stay focuses on Bonnie & Clyde. I've never been too big of a fan of this material, and it seems like it hasn't gone over too well. I'm still surprised more BWW people haven't seen it yet!
