I don't know if there will be any more but I went to a SAG Nominating Committee screening last night (my boyfriend is on the committee so I went as his guest). The committee is only 2000 nationwide (I think it also includes London) and there were plenty of people there who had some affiliation with the Columbia & Revolution or SAG. After the screening there was a formal Q&A with Tracie, Adam, Anthony, Rosario, Wilson and Chris Columbus. I got to talk with Tracie a little bit and Adam for about 10 minutes after. Everyone was so nice. They are really marketing this movie.

I saw it on the 4th. It was cool to see it with the cast in attendance, except for Idina, Taye, and Jesse. The film itself is rather mediocre. It's challenging to imagine a worst fit for the material than director Chris Columbus. The guy has no style, no panache, very little talent. Still what's good about the show comes through. The opening "Seasons of Love" was killer, as were "Santa Fe" and "La Vie Boheme." I think it worked as a film more often than it didn't and many people applauded after the songs and some people were crying at certain plot points. Rosario Dawson (gorgeous in person) gave the best performance and I found Jesse Martin particularly commendable as well. I don't think the film is gonna do so well. It certainly won't play non-urban areas.
I loved the film. I have seen the stage production 6 times so I was kind of nervous. Without spoiling it for anyone, I really love how they did RENT, Another Day, Tango Maureen and La Vie Boheme. I was bawling when Angel died and a few scenes toward th end of the movie as well. Some of the scenes are just so beautifully shot. Added bonus was meeting several of the stars after the show. Rosario and Tracie are so sweet. Adam and I talked for a little bit and he is just so damn adorable. He was so excited that I saw him in Cabaret :)

Nice avatar, WickedOne. I love that he practically gets giddy over Cabaret.
I'm seeing the movie in New York on Friday. I think I'm too shocked that it's so soon to be excited yet. I'm also going to the screening at Symphony Space on the 22nd, and I'd really love to talk to him about it (if I can open my mouth).
