Please promise me you won't pay to see Dirty Dancing. Unless you're a satsuma-tanned checkout girl in your mid thirties, pissed on Lambrini and with 'Juicy' emblazoned across the arse of your jeans, you will gain nothing from it.
jesus ? ok I know the type... can they possibly be pissed at 3.00 on a friday afternoon? Its good Fridy does anyone know if any shows are doing extra matinees ? and if not why ? Don't they know Im coming to town ?
I know exactly how you feel. I've broken into many a theatre on a Sunday and stood on stage clapping my hands shouting, "Come on people, Lovepigeon's in town, let's get a show together!" Never seems to work though, the lazy sods. I have baffled a few cleaners in my time though, and the churchy people at the Dominion weren't impressed. I still have the burn marks where they splashed holy water on me.
will keep you posted on my eventual choice... urg, if anyone has any better ideas how to spend a friday afternoon in theatre land, I already have pencilled in -a mince down Old compton Street -a browse in the dress circle and try and get a smile from one of the old queeny shop girls.
Those Friday matinees are all early evening rather than mid-afternoon affairs, last I checked. So you have a great big swathe of day to play with, which could be nice. :3 If I were you, I'd figure out which is geographically closest to Priscilla, go for that one, and pack a sandwich to eat on the way.
You can do 'Mama Mia' and 'Priscilla'! Saturday July 18th 1981 I did- 'Barnum' 2.30pm London Palladium 'One Mo' Time' 6pm Cambridge Theatre 6.15pm 'The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas' 8.30pm Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
As Weez says. most show son Fridays are always early eve and are meant to catch the office workers on the way home and/or before hitting the town. Most are at 5pm, 5.15pm or 5,30pm. I have never seen a 3pm show on a Friday before 'Dirty Dancing; brought it in a few months ago- there must be a need for it!

Dirty Dancing's matinee used to be at 5pm on Fridays but due to fact that the show just finished just before 8pm and the evening show starts at 8.30pm they changed the time when a new booking period opened.
