Frozen Seating/Children

I couldn’t agree more. Excuse my rambling, but a LOT happened this Friday. The woman next to me put her bare feet up on the seat in front of her (why??) and various people up in the balcony were taking flash photos and snapchatting the show. To be honest, the kids’ babbling through the show was the least of my problems there... and for bonus points, half of the people around me left before curtain call :’). The ushers were chatting about how they needed more (ushers) so they could really enforce the rules more.

I wouldn't have liked that behavior if I had paid $40 for the ticket. But you have to expect that kind of behavior for the type of show it is. Add, that most parents nowadays, do not discipline their "little darlings". Top it off, with people not thinking rules apply to them. Combine those, equals why I have zero interest in seeing this show.

Do NOT sit on your children at FROZEN.

Yikes. I have two kids (under the age of 5) and a few thoughts...first, anyone who takes a child under the age of 4 (even older, in some cases) to a 2.5 hour-long Broadway show is playing with fire. Unless you are raising some kind of disciplined prodigy of a pre-schooler, your child will undoubtedly whine, talk in full voice, get hungry, get thirsty, get antsy, have to pee, sing along, fall asleep, or do a combination of all the above things before the first act is even finished. Why on EARTH would any parent put themselves, their kids, or (more importantly) the other paying audience members through that? Secondly, I haven’t looked this up yet in regards to “Frozen,” but I’m pretty sure both Jujamcyn and Disney Theatricals has both “recommended age” and overall theatre policies regarding the minimum age for an audience member. Isn’t 4 years old the norm? Can they turn away a parent who tries to bring in an infant or young toddler? I am so sorry you had that experience. Hopefully parents start to wise up and leave their super young young’uns at home (unfortunately that’s not likely to be the case)...or at least theatre management can have more defined/enforced policies.

Wow - it's unfortunate that so many people have had such bad experiences! For what it's worth... just to not totally discourage others who haven't yet gone... I had no problems at all with children when I saw it. I was sitting in front mezzanine, if it matters. There were about four little girls in my row, but they were totally transfixed through the whole thing and didn't make a peep, other than some oohing and aahing. The only kid outburst I heard came from the orchestra section during "In Summer" - he or she shouted out "... a happy snowman!!" at the appropriate time in the song - but it was adorable rather than annoying. (FWIW, I am usually someone who has zero patience for kids.)

That said, I wish I could say the same for the obnoxious know-it-all high school/college theatre students sitting behind me. They had a snarky commentary going the whole time, and were "yaaaaas"ing through "Let It Go" and I wanted to tell them to STFU so badly, but didn't want to be a further disruption. Sigh.

But in general, the kids at my performance of Frozen - at least in my section - were extremely well-behaved.

I've seen the show 4 times now and had the screaming children the first time in mid mezz. The second time was final preview which wasn't a bad audience at all. Just wooed a bit too much in Let It Go. The 3rd time I was in the orch and had grown adults talking loudly to each other in French that I politely told to STFU. The 4th time my friend won lotto and we had a girl behind us that coughed for the first 45 minutes of Act 1. However during that show a girl in front of me went into anaphylactic shock and they were nothing but accommodating to the grandma that stayed behind and was sitting next to me while the girl was taken to the hospital...all this happened before the show and not during.
