Re: SCHOOL GIRLS; OR, THE AFRICAN MEAN GIRLS PLAY Previews

Sep 28, 2026 — 9:12:17 PM

Just jumping on the bandwagon while we wait for reviews to say how much I enjoyed this too. I had seen it however many years ago at the Lortel and remember thinking it was great, but not this great. Denee was definitely the standout to me, and I loved this introduction to Erin Morton (has anyone ever been so instantly likable??) but the entire cast was really pitch-perfect. I forgot about the whole mid-show musical number, and how perfect to have two exceptional singers playing the Paulina an...

Is this a bad AI situation?? I don't love being negative on

BECKY SHAW Reviews

Just jumping back in to say I sat in C1 (house left, front row on the aisle) last night and thought it was a fantastic seat! The stage is high so I couldn’t exactly tell you what shoes any of them were wearing, but overall could see everything very clearly and it’s a great show to sit close for. I really appreciated that heads up on left vs right - left is for sure the way to go. And I really enjoyed the play overall! I did expect it to go a lot further off the rails than it did plot-wise, bu...

BECKY SHAW Reviews

For seating... how partial view are those partial views in the front far sides of the orchestra? I was looking at those Row C seats on the sides (the first row of two seats), which are not technically marked as partial, but the pic of that on A View From My Seat looks almost absurdly angled. Better off sitting really close but on the side like that, or much further back but more centered for a similar price? I know the Hayes isn't huge, but it's hard to tell for this one. Appreciate any advice!

KENREX - (Lucille Lortel Theatre, Off-Broadway)

Always a chance it could do a remount and change theaters (like Mexodus) if it happens to really take off. I'm excited to see this in a couple of weeks! Bought tickets for my friend and I on a whim after seeing a trailer in an Instagram ad, which is something I've never done, so I'm glad to see that the buzz is corroborating how unique and creative it looks.

Anything current for Mexodus? (Also, is there any audience interaction in this show where I should not sit front row or on the aisle if I want to avoid that?) TY!

CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL Previews

I was at the Saturday matinee, sitting center orchestra (right in front of Andrew Lloyd Webber, fwiw) - and while it didn't have the same exact energy as PAC, I definitely didn't feel like it was a dud at all. It was of course an older crowd, as any Saturday matinee would be, and we even heard ALW say as much to the guys he was with, but I felt like everyone was enjoying themselves! It wasn't a lot of shouting out and fan-waving, more like the kind of enthusiastic cheering and clapping you'd ...

CATS: THE JELLICLE BALL Previews

FWIW, I'm a straight cis woman who knew absolutely nothing about ball culture. To be honest, had never even heard of it, despite unknowingly having seen some elements through the occasional drag show and Madonna's Vogue. But I was interested in the PAC production because of word of mouth (and I do have a nostalgic soft spot for the Cats score), so decided to watch Paris Is Burning before seeing it, and I am so glad I did. I'm sure I would've enjoyed the spectacle regardless, but learning what...

I LOVE Carrie Coon, I think she’s such an insanely talented actress, I’m a big Leftovers fan, and I can’t fathom her being in anything on Broadway and me not immediately getting a ticket. But I also looked up the context of the body horror and sadly know that there’s no chance in h

Guessing game. Hints for 26/27 tour

Dec 29, 2025 — 7:13:59 PM

I mean odds are that it will eventually tour next season, but no, it’s not that. Was just trying to be conversational since I wasn’t sure. I meant bottom left, and now I’m sure it’s Hamilton. It’s obviously not Starlight Express either on the bottom right lol. It looks like there are 10 shows here; roughly 5 columns with two shows (top and bottom) per column. What is that bottom-middle-right show if not & Juliet? Even that painting is of St. Francis which checks out.I’m assuming there are a f...

I love a season guessing game - I wish every theatre did it!Gordon Ramsey is for sure Hell’s Kitchen, as is the map of NYC below it with Hell’s Kitchen highlightedThe potion top right with the ‘forever young’ self help book below it I assume is Death Becomes HerPossibly & Juliet? (torn photo & singer at the bottom, the black & red hearts above, the painting above that)I think the bottom right group might be Elf, with the Christmas gifts and skates… but is Starlight Express touring?? There’s l...

Absolute travesty that it wasn’t nominated for Best Score - there are SO many gems.

Tony Performances 2025

Jun 2, 2025 — 3:11:27 PM

I feel like DBH would be crazy not to do For the Gaze at the Tonys - ideally with a healthy in-character intro from Jennifer so she gets a deserved moment. Hoping/assuming Pirates does Modern Major General. The great DHP aside, it's so delightful especially with that semaphore choreo! I saw Buena Vista so long ago and loved it - really looking forward to revisiting whatever they choose. Whatever the choice, I do hope they showcase the insanely talented Renesito Avich. He unexpectedly stole th...
