Hey I was just curious if you had any suggestions. Im looking for a song for a school show so it can't be more than 3 minutes or so and has to be okay for highschool. Oh it would probably help to mention the song needs to be for a girl lol. Thanks so much!

it's not so much a show tune..but i sang "stormy weather" freshman year and it KILLED!! everyone loved it and still remembers it. it's super fun because you can do a whole lot with it and really belt out some parts.
i must warn you, however, that it IS pretty low!! and then it goes up to a belted/mixed C# or C natural, i can't remember which.
i hope you find a great song!!

Well nothing from Wicked, thats for sure...:-P How about Somewhere That's Green from LSoH? It's alot of fun. Or Someone Like You from Jykle and Hyde. I sang that one for my summer acting workshop and it was so much fun. And it really blew people away. Anyways thats just my suggestion.
Waiting for Life to Begin- Mezzo BELT- Once on this Island
The girl I mean to be - Mezzo - The Secret Garden
hold on - alto BELT- The Secret Garden
my new philosophy- mezzo belt - YAGMCB
Ohhh yeah, My New Philosophy is such a great song. Sorry, just had to throw that in.

i've sung waiting for life a lot and it's been a lot of fun. good song for a belter.
Look at "The Road Ends Here" from John and Jen or something that isn't overly done could be a song that is gonna be on the new Susan Egan CD called "Taylor" it's a really funny song about "Taylor the latte boy." Good luck!

when you got it flaunt it- not neccessarily school appropriate but hell
"The Great Indoors" from The New Yorkers
"I'm Unlucky at Gambling" from Fifty Million Frenchmen
"At the Roxy Music Hall" from I Married an Angel
"Rumble Rumble Rumble" from The Perils of Pauline
"To Keep My Love Alive" from A Connecticut Yankee
"Rhode Island Is Famous for You" from Inside USA
"Come to the Supermarket (in Old Peking)" from Aladdin
"Crossword Puzzle" from Starting Here, Starting Now
"Men" from So Long, 174th Street
I actually disagree. I think Somewhere That's Green and Someone Like You are two of the most overdone songs of all time.
I second Crossword Puzzle (I used to do that song all the time! It's great!)
I also love Come to the Supermarket and To Keep My Love Alive (HILARIOUS).

i like the suggestion of taylor. one of my favorite songs for a girl.
Hold On is an amazing song.
"Penthouse Apartment" from Ruthless (if you can get the sheet music) - high belt, very fun.
"Art Is Calling For Me" from The Enchantress - soprano

Just a couple of suggestions...
A Change in Me... I know, from Beauty and the Beast, but if you have a strong alto/mezzo voice, the long notes will sound like gold.
Everything's Coming Up Roses or If Momma Got Married from Gypsy... you've either got a strong dramatic song in the first or a comedic one in the latter.
And finally, a beautiful song that can draw tears if done right... No one is alone from Into the Woods... maybe leaning towards slightly overdone, but I haven't heard it in a while so it might just be fresh enough.
