I'm not quite sure what you consider to be the "Opera Song" in FUnny Girl...
But regardless, every note sung by Barbra in Funny Girl, and everything else she's ever done, is hers. She used to display her range more frequently than she does now. She used to be able to go quite high.

You mean in Funny Lady when she breaks the streetlamp from the high note?
That's her voice.

Fanny Brice.
Barbra goes quite high on several early recordings. Trust me. Her range used to be crazy. Now, she doesn't show it off as much.

Posted: 12/12/05 at 1:44pmCheck out her early stuff. It's amazing. The first 10 albums or so, are her best. They just released her 5 tv specials on dvd, and they really show Barbra at her best before she got all precise and anal about everything.

Posted: 12/12/05 at 1:53pmBarbra's first three ablums are some of the finest recordings by a singer ever to be put on vinyl. She took such risks with her choices and sang the hell out of that stuff - along with having fantastic arrangements.

Posted: 12/13/05 at 1:12amShe's not just a "Bitch" to everyone. Fanny Brice is very co-dependant and falls head over heals in love (The DRAMA kind) for Nicky Arnstein. He breaks her heart and goes to jail and Fanny remains a big star, thus ends "Funny Girl". When "Funny Lady" picks up, years have passed and she is STILL in love with Arnstein and finds he is remarried to a much older woman who can keep him in the lifestyle to which he is accoustomed (Gambler, BIG TIME!) and so she goes, The depression hits and Fanny wants to climb back herself to the heights of Showbiz and just before she has to sell herself out to do it, She meets Billy Rose (James Caan), He loves Fanny, Fanny loves Nicky, and so it goes - it is more about finally finding out who you are and conquering your secret inner demons that possess you than it is about a "Bitchy Woman". One of my favorite Barbra films!
