Funny Girl Auditions#1
Posted: 1/7/09 at 4:21pmI have an audition for Funny Girl coming up and need a song in the style of the show.It is just an open call audition right now, not looking for a specific role. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Not necessarily- what if they're not a student? Maybe "Someone to Watch Over Me," or if you can do something from the show, "Don't Rain on My Parade."

Use another song from a Jule Styne show. Perhaps one that is not done so much these days.
Fade Out Fade In or Hallelujah Baby.
Or listen to the 1962 recording of Little Me by Coleman/Leigh. The Other Side of the Tracks is done twice. The first time a a yearning girl's "I want" song and the reprise is a belt. Tie them together and do them both. They're each very short, under 2:00.

Oh. Well, that's generally where audition song requests go.
To be honest, I'm not good with this kind of thing, but I'm sure there's people on both forums who can help you.

You could do "My Man" which is a Brice song. It's in the film, but not the stage show.
You could do numbers from Funny Lady - Satin on My Shoulder, for example.
