ok, so i finally bought funny girl on DVD. and i want to know, how different is it from the stage production?
Quite a bit. Many musical numbers from the stage version are not in the film, and instead replaced by new numbers or numbers that the actual Fanny sang (none of her original material is in the stage-adaptation.
While I love the film, the stage version has the divine "Who Are You No?", "Music that Makes Me Dance", and many more.

I've never seen the movie version. I was in my high school's production of it last year though. I LOVED Rat-Tat-Tat. Ah, tap numbers make me melt.
(like Elphaba)
Though both are different, I thing I prefer the movie. Of course I've only seen a small scale touring production of the show on stage. Yes, the movie does replace "The Music That Makes Me Dance" with "My Man," and I do miss the song, but "My Man" is Streisand's best moment in any movies she's ever done.
BOBBYBUBBY you are right again highlighting my two favourit FUNNY GIRL numbers... WHO ARE YOU NOW? and MUSIC THAT MAKES ME DANCE. I think the film really missed out in not including these more intimate songs especially W.A.Y.N. though I still thought the film was glorious.
This show could work again if they found the right FANNY.... I wondered if SGP would be up to the demands?
