If one wishes to post a correct spelling that has been bugging you, please do so here. =)
My word for the day is PLAYWRIGHT.
A certain playwright on this board (who is a cutie and seems nice so I will not point him out) has made a big boo boo by spelling the profession as "playwrite".
While you would spell the word as "playwriting", you always refer to the person as a playwright. =)

I'm 100% sure I spelled "Shrill" correctly.

You sure you don't mean Shill?

I wish I had a nickle for every person who has spelled "definitely" incorrectly. Usually it pops up here as "definately".

Oh my god, DP -- I HATE THAT! I also despise when people spell "realize" "realise"... *sigh* I'm so anally retentive when it comes to spelling things the correct way and punctuation and all that jazz. lol

It's not spelling, and maybe it's been covered here, but...
I'd love it if people stopped "feeling BAD-LY" about things (Donna's flu, Reidel and Brantley's agendas...) Even learned folk think they are correct saying that. It's gotten worse late-ly.
Badly is an adverb. If you "feel badly," you're giving lousy foreplay.

Auggie, would you mind if I used that in the classroom with my ghetto rats?
I agree about "definitely" Dollypop. Although I used to have trouble spelling that word myself, so I am willing to forgive.
What about when "cast recording" is spelled "soundtrack"!? Okay, I'm just kidding, there has been enough talk here about that.
i two am ferius with peoples who come into here and shrill for plaerites. and i am difenatly not going 2 feel badly when thems are shouted down by someone what can use correk anglish. if yuo kent spek the langage and speshially if u kent rite, then you reely ned 2 go back to skool. so don't go waisting are times in hear becuz we gots more impotent thinks to debut.

Okay, papalovesmambo cuts through it, puts this one to bed. I'm gonna LOL till I feel even more badly about it.
I also despise when people spell "realize" "realise"...
Isn't that just the British way of spelling it? I can't remember but it seems like they do that a lot, putting "Z"s where we Americans put "S"s.
Yes, it is the British way of spelling it, and a lot of other countries adopt that spelling. Anywhere you guys use 'ize' we use 'ise'. I'm from Australia, and one of my pet hates is seeing "realize" (or something similar) as opposed to "realise" in local print.
Just part of the Americanisation of the rest of the world.. or is that Americanization?
What a great point! Some the of the spelling choices are regional. See--this thread does have some purpose besides correctly spelling an important theatre profession. =)
I can't stand people who spell colour, color. THERE'S A "u" IN IT!

There's not a U in color. That's the British way of spelling it.
Moving on....
I can't stand people who write "prolly" instead of "probably".... drives me up a freaking wall! (did I mention already how anally retentive I am about **** like that? lol)
