Collette is pretty much the only adult author (so not counting Petit Prince) that I have found in French and can read for pleasure--her language is simple enough, and clear.
Sean Martin--sadly I think you're right about how it will be sold. I'm not sure there's any way they could see around it.
(And thanks Best--I just spent some of the birthday Amazon gift card I got--look forward to re-watching the movie.)

You do realize that the film was marketed as The FIRST Lerner-Loewe musical since "MY FAIR LADY". That tag line was printed on the original theatrical release posters. It even premiered at a Broadway theater, the Royale and it played it's entire roadshow engagement there.

Posted: 3/30/13 at 6:49pmI love GIGI. I love it so much, I know practically everything about the film. It watched it once a week for years, that is how much I absolutely adore the film. I actually prefer GIGI over MY FAIR LADY.

That's kinda funny.
Since "My Fair Lady" was on Broadway in 1956, and Gigi came out in 1958.
That's like saying, this is the first Sunday since last Sunday!
Not exactly a lot of time had passed.

Re, "I Never Want to Go Home Again." Though the song itself does not appear on the OBC album, it's heard in the overture, which consists, bizarrely, only of the added songs. (I hope they will revert to the film overture in the new "adaptation.")
It's the first song heard in the overture, and it sounds wonderful, though you only get to hear a bit of it.
Oh, those foolish and regrettable omissions on cast albums!
