Wow. I know I haven't seen it. But, based on that, and the songs I have heard from their Myspace page, I'm not really looking forward to this at all.

Blaemire stays, Call takes a three month leave to do Glory Days.

Is Glory Days really expecting to run only three months?

i think that the whole "Call stays 3 months" seems weird. With minimal overhead, the show should be able to easily run that amount of time. Perhaps that's all they want to say right now.. he's only a cover in Cry-Baby.

I don't get why people are so bothered that this show is opening. I'm guessing it's probably because NEXT TO NORMAL and [TITLE OF SHOW] didn't snag the theatre? It's the only somewhat plausible explanation that I've come up with.

"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

The show does only have one setting, but it is not simply "4 guys reminiscing." There are actual conflicts in the plot that have to be resolved. It is not simply talking about the past. I think you will be surpised how moving the piece is and how much you can connect to it.

I just think the concept is a little weird and ambitious (in a sense).

if these kids think ONE year is bad, try maybe 20 or 30 years?

I'll keep an open mind but it shouldn't be considered a "darkhorse" for a Tony nom. or award

I love how misunderstood this show can be. The show is about the transition from being a boy to a man and the way their perceptions change after moving away from the comfort of the bubble that they lived in. The show does not pretend that in one year these boys have become completely different human beings or that their problems are the end of the world. It is the beginning of the change. And it is beautifully handled.

That's exactly right Bestofbroadway! I completely agree. Both writers are extremely intelligent (as you will find from the interview) and the show is based on personal events. Shouldn't theater be about real life experiences?

I don't think the composer is brilliant.

you people do know that Nick had two other men help him, A LOT, in creating this score? they obviously won't be credited.

Nick was never the greatest musician in College.

I think the score shows that. The music is weak.

Didn't Mel Brooks have help writing his scores? And I believe I heard William Finn has someone help him as well....I'm sure most composers have assistance from people.

Nick is a very smart guy....why the animosity Fiercey516?

did I say assistance?

I meant... two other writers wrote the majority of the score, and Nick added in his own stuff.

I will give him credit for raising $500,000 in 3 days but that's about it.

So two other writers let him take their score and they don't care??? That doesn't make any sense. I don't believe it.

Aww sounds like FIERCEY516 is jealous that his classmate is more successful then him. Get a life. Mr. Blaemire wrote the entire score by himself. Care to give us the scoop. Who are the other two that wrote the score?

Yeah - that's my guess as well. You say that the music is weak, which shows that Nick wasn't a good musician....but then you say he didn't write it anyway. Those statements contradict each other.

can't see how much they could have been doing on it, considering one of their writers is in Cry Baby

And James Gardiner, book writer, is currently in SPIDER WOMAN at Signature.

They might be credited in the back of the playbill. TRIUMPH OF LOVE had one composer listed on the title page but Van Dyke Parks and Michael Kosarin both wrote songs for the show. So it is not unheard of. Remember, LA STRADA written by Lionel Bart had the insert "at this performance additional music and lyrics by Elliot Lawrence and Martin Charnin"

we have ties. but I was not classmates with him, thank goodness.

Get a life? Well, I'm attempting to reveal Nick for what he truly is... and that's a bad musician. so I should get a life? Okay.

Mr. Blaemire did NOT write the entire score himself.

Brian Mazzeferri (composer of the musical "Green Eyes") and another young musician, whose name has slipped at the time, helped Blaemire write the score. Not assist... help. there's a difference.

My point is not that Mazzeferri isn't getting credited but that Blaemire's newfound reputation, as a Broadway Composer, is ludacris and the kid is getting much more credit then deserved.

Fiercey, if your 3 days on this board - you sure have stirred up some trouble.

Just sayin'...

why? because I'm not afraid to voice my opinions?

my other thread, where I attempted to clear up rumors, was a mistake. I now know that my "CMIYC" sources are not reliable but we all make mistakes...

I didn't enjoy "ITH"

I do not believe Mr. Blaemire is a talented composer

I believe Elizabeth Stanley should not be in "C-B"

I strongly believe in Evans winning the Tony.

I love Natalie Weiss.

I have strong opinions but I do not attack others. I encourage debate and discussion. I actually enjoy it. Doesn't mean I stir up trouble.

I do not believe that Mazzaferri wrote the music. I do know that Blaemire is not a wonderful pianist (he is self trained which is pretty impressive), and he may have had assistance with accompaniment/orchestrations, etc. But as I said before, so do many composers. As far as I am aware, Blaemire wrote all of the melodies, chord progressions, lyrics, etc. There is nothing wrong with having someone assist with playing the piano if you yourself are not a strong pianist.

Until you can present actual proof that a full song was written by a different composer, I would be careful what you accuse someone of...that's all.

I'm not sure of the difference between "helped" and "assisted", but I never think asking for help from other musicians who you respect (Blaemire and Mazzaferri are indeed good friends) is a bad thing. I am sure many composers "help" each other with their music, especially when they are only 23.

I would also point out that Blaemire was one of the main performers in Mazzaferri's Green Eyes (great music and another promising young composer), so perhaps he "helped" Mazzaferri with that score. I believe the two are also working together on a future new musical.

I think Nick's songs are perfect for the show. You, of course, are entitled to your own opinion :)
