Yea..."Meadowlark" is easily Schwartz's best song. It's a one-act play in itself.
Too bad the Patti recording has the awful verse.

Gavin would be suprising. They originally said it was going to be a fresh, new young cast. Not that Gavin is old...he is only 32. But When Shoshana, Leslie and Barrett were in it they were all 23. I thought they were going to go with some newer bway performers.

I would not be surprised to see Jonathan Groff as Jesus.

Ditto husk_charmer, "Meadowlark" is amazing, and really the only good thing Stephen Schwartz has written

I agree that this seems to be a bit too soon. Even an off Broadway production would feel a bit too soon considering the fact that it played off broadway in 2000.

I like "Working"...granted, I don't like his songs, but that should count for something...right?

I'm about to do Godspell and honestly I don't get why people like the show so much. I love the song I'm singing All Good Gifts but that's it! I love Meadowlark IMO its Schwartz best song ever! I don't love Patti on it but I love love love love Liz Callaway's version

Godspell? Seriously? Well, we can't win them all. It could work with a really strong cast, but the show is so thin- a few good songs, some awful songs, and a lot of stilted and badly written dialogue. Not really looking forward to this one.

What I heard about this production is that they were going to try and cast as many people as they could from the Paper Mill Playhouse production that happened in october 2006. The same person who directed that production is directing the broadway one. I also talked to Kasey Marino at the Hairspray stagedoor and he said that he was approached to be in the production as well as most of the cast.
